At Mugello, first Ferrari Challenge races crown 2025 champions: Gostner, Schömer and Perrina
On the first day of racing in the final round of the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli, held today on a rain-soaked Mugello International Circuit, the 2025 titles were claimed by Manuela Gostner (Ineco – Reparto Corse RAM) in the Coppa Shell, Sven Schömer (Penske Sportwagen Hamburg) in the Coppa Shell Am of the European series, and Massimo Perrina (Ferrari of Seattle) in the Trofeo Pirelli North America.
In the Ferrari Challenge Europe, today’s race winners were Björn Grossmann (B.I. Corse – Octane 126) in the Trofeo Pirelli, with Andrew Morrow (Charles Hurst) finishing first in the Am. In the Coppa Shell, victory went to Ernst Kirchmayr (Kessel Racing), while Andrea Levy (Rossocorsa) triumphed in the Am.
In the North American series, Massimo Perrina celebrated his title with a top-step finish in today’s race, while Rafael Duran (The Collection) led the Am standings. In the Coppa Shell, Yahn Bernier (Ferrari of Seattle) secured victory, with Melissa Kozyra (Ferrari of Naples) finishing first in the Am.
Ferrari’s official drivers competing in the FIA WEC and GT championships were at the Tuscan circuit during Finali Mondiali week, taking turns as Race Advisors for the Prancing Horse’s one-make series, which tomorrow will award the remaining titles in both continental series.
Ferrari Challenge Europe. Björn Grossmann scored his first win of the season in a Trofeo Pirelli race that was repeatedly neutralised by the Safety Car, deployed multiple times to restore track conditions after various incidents and off-track excursions caused by bad weather. Starting from pole position in his class, the German driver, who also recorded the fastest lap, made the winning move on Andrew Morrow, the Am class driver who had started from overall pole, to take the lead just minutes before the finish line and cross first. Behind him came Felix Hirsiger (Ineco – Reparto Corse RAM), who increased his lead in the overall standings over Jasin Ferati (Emil Frey Racing) ahead of Friday’s title-deciding race. Third place went to Gilles Renmans (Motorchamps Motors Brussels).
Andrew Morrow finished fourth overall, winning the Trofeo Pirelli Am and setting the fastest lap. He finished ahead of Michael Verhagen (Ferrari Warszawa) and Japan’s Nobuhiro Imada (Formula Racing).
A fourth-place finish was enough for Manuela Gostner to secure the 2025 Coppa Shell title with one race remaining, highlighting a remarkable season in which the driver from South Tyrol earned three wins – including a double victory at Valencia – a total of eight podium finishes and three pole positions. The race at the Scarperia circuit started behind the Safety Car on a rain-soaked track and ended with Ernst Kirchmayr taking the win. From pole position, the Austrian steadily extended his lead all the way to the chequered flag. Joining him on the podium were Oscar Ryndziewicz of Kessel Racing – who also set the fastest lap – and American driver Rey Acosta of The Collection.
With a decisive late overtake just minutes before the finish in a race that started in the rain, Andrea Levy secured his first victory since returning to the series, building on his double podium at Misano. There was also celebration for Sven Schömer, who finished second after starting from pole and mathematically clinched the title before tomorrow’s final race, thanks to eleven podium finishes and two wins – one in the night race at Misano and the other in Valencia. Third place went to Henrik Kamstrup (Formula Racing), while Jan Sandmann (Kessel Racing) – still in the hunt for the title until today – spun on the damp track and finished eighth, though he recorded the race's fastest lap.
Ferrari Challenge North America. The seventh and final round of the North American series saw Massimo Perrina win the Trofeo Pirelli title. The Ferrari of Seattle driver earned his eighth victory of the season at a rain-soaked Mugello Circuit, also setting the fastest lap, in a closely contested race that saw him finish ahead of Roberto Perrina (Ferrari of Seattle) and Dylan Medler (The Collection). In the Am class, Rafael Duran celebrated his first win after starting from pole position. On the podium with him were teammate Rey Acosta in second and Lithuania’s Gerdas Venslovas (Continental AutoSports) in third.
In the Coppa Shell, championship leader Mitchell Green (Ferrari of Westlake) started from pole but was overtaken halfway through the race by his title rival Yahn Bernier (Ferrari of Seattle), who had lined up second on the grid. The duel between the two remains wide open, with Green forced to retire from Race-1 and now trailing by nine points. Joining him on the podium were Andrew Parker (Ferrari of Naples) and Bryan Waltersdorf (Continental AutoSports).
In the Am class, Melissa Kozyra (Ferrari of Naples) celebrated her first victory, finishing ahead of David Williams (Ferrari of Central Florida) and Stephanie Herfield (Ferrari Philadelphia). The title contest remains wide open, with Gabe Hrib (Ferrari of Atlanta) and Michael Owens (Ferrari of Alberta) now separated by just one point.
