Weekend preview: from America to Australia, Ferrari in the fight for titles
A busy racing weekend awaits the Maranello-based manufacturer, with its cars aiming for wins and titles in many championships. In America, the GT World Challenge and GT America take place at the Barber Motorsports Park track in Alabama.
In Europe, the International GT Open resumes at the Spielberg circuit in Austria, while round five of the GT World Challenge Australia is scheduled at The Bend in Australia, with the Arise Racing GT 296 GT3 leading the standings.
GT World Challenge America. Barber Motorsports Park, near Birmingham, Alabama, will host the sixth round of the 2025 season over the weekend. The number 163 Ferrari 296 GT3 of AF Corse USA, crewed by Jay Schreibman and Oswaldo Negri, arrives at the top of the standings after a double-win in the Am class at Road America. Marcelo Hahn and Diego Gomes Nunes will make their debut in the Pro Am class in the second AF Corse USA entry, the number 16.
After Friday’s free practice, qualifying takes place on Saturday from 9.20 to 9.55 a.m., with Race-1 scheduled from 3 to 4.30 p.m. Race-2 will follow on Sunday from 1.45 to 4.15 p.m.
GT America. The seventh round of the season will take place at the Barber Motorsports Park track, from 5 to 7 September, where Tony Davis will make his debut driving the number 004 Ferrari 296 GT3 entered by HP-TECH Motorsport. The team has already confirmed its participation for the entire 2026 season. Davis will use the weekend at the Alabama track, known for its corners and undulations, to gain valuable experience. Race-1 is scheduled for Saturday from 11.55 a.m. to 12.35 p.m., with Race-2 on Sunday from 9.05 to 9.45 a.m.
International GT Open. Seven Ferraris will contest the fifth round of the season in a series where all the titles remain up for grabs. At Austria’s Spielberg circuit, AF Corse’s Tommaso Mosca and Carl Bennett, at the wheel of the number 51 296 GT3, continue their pursuit of the Pro class crown. The number 17 of Elite Motorsport, crewed by the British pairing Tom Lebbon and Tom Enson, will compete in the same class.
Among the Pro-Am contenders, two crews from the local team Baron Motorsport will be aiming for victory. In the number 91, home driver Ernst Kirchmayr and Giacomo Altoé hope to repeat last year’s win, while Masoud Jaberian and Edoardo Bacci return in the number 92. South Africans Stuart White and Xollie Letlaka will be behind the wheel of the number 88 for Into Africa Racing by Dragon Racing.
In the Am class, Gino Forgione and Michele Rugolo, in the number 21 296 GT3 of AF Corse, start as championship standings leaders with six wins this season, but will have to defend a slender lead six points clear of their closest rivals. The Polish pair of Stanislaw Jedliński and Krystian Korzeniowski will line up in the number 5 Ferrari of Olimp Racing.
After qualifying on Saturday, 6 September at 10.40 a.m., Race-1 will follow later that day at 3 p.m., lasting 70 minutes. On Sunday, 7 September, the second qualifying session will be at 9 a.m., with Race-2 starting at 1.15 p.m. and lasting one hour.
GT World Challenge Australia. Two Ferrari 296 GT3s entered by Arise Racing GT, the current leaders of the team standings, will be on the grid for the fifth round of the championship – the final race in Australia – at The Bend. In the Pro-Am category, Jaxon Evans and Elliott Schutte in the number 26 aim to extend their lead in the standings, where they currently hold a 30-point advantage over their nearest competitors.
Jordan Love and Steve Wyatt will share the sister car, the number 77.
The programme features two qualifying sessions on Saturday, 6 September, starting at 8.40 a.m., followed by Race-1 at 1.25 p.m., which lasts for one hour. Race-2 will be held on Sunday at 2.10 p.m., also lasting 60 minutes.
Ultimate Cup Series. After almost two months away, racing returns to Aragon, Spain, for the fourth round of the season. Representing the Maranello-based manufacturer on the Spanish track (which is hosting a leg of the Ultimate Cup Series for the first time) will be Patrick Michellier, who will be competing in the Trofeo GT Sprint with the CMR team’s Ferrari 296 Challenge. The driver achieved three victories in the last race in Portimão. The three races at Aragon will take place on Saturday from 6.35 to 7 p.m. and on Sunday from 10.30 to 10.55 a.m. and 6.10 to 6.35 p.m.
