Rovera, Lilou and Gray complete the Rookie Test in Bahrain
The day after the Bahrain 8 Hours, which saw Ferrari crowned World Manufacturers’ Champion and Pier Guidi–Calado–Giovinazzi clinch the World Drivers’ title, the Sakhir circuit hosted the 2025 FIA WEC Rookie Test.
In the two sessions contested, Ferrari official drivers Lilou Wadoux and Alessio Rovera had the opportunity to take to the track at the wheel of the number 51 and number 83 499P cars respectively. In the Ferrari number 50, meanwhile, young Briton Oliver Gray – invited by the championship organisers – had the chance to test himself with the Prancing Horse’s number 50 Le Mans Hypercar.
In the morning, the number 51 499P fielded by the Ferrari – AF Corse team completed 15 laps, while the number 83, entered by the private AF Corse outfit, covered 18 laps. The best time for Wadoux (in her second participation in the Rookie Test, after 2023) was 1’53”607, while Rovera stopped the clocks at 1’52”978. Gray’s best lap was 1’53”627.
In the afternoon, the two cars of Rovera and Wadoux completed 56 and 40 laps respectively. The fastest lap was set by Wadoux (1'49"926) followed by Rovera (1'51"297). Gray completed 57 laps, achieving a best time of 1'50"599.
Alessio Rovera: “It was a very important day for me. I’d like to thank Ferrari for giving me this opportunity, from which I learned a great deal, especially regarding the set-up of the 499P on a circuit I know well, as it hosts the final round of the FIA WEC. I’m also pleased with my performance, which was very positive.”
Lilou Wadoux: “I’m happy to be back at the wheel of a prototype after an entire season contested with Ferrari GT cars, with which I achieved important results. I really enjoyed driving the 499P today, on a special day free from the usual race stress, with the goal of collecting kilometres and gaining experience with this wonderful car.”
