Maranello, 25 July 2023 – Ferrari has once again chosen to support the cause of young people’s education, starting with a school. The latest Ferrari Cavalcade auction, which was held in Rome at the end of a journey across central Italy, raised over 1.5 million euros. The proceeds will be donated to the Istituto Comprensivo Giuliano da Sangallo, a school in Ostia Ponente.
“Lo spazio che vorrei” (“The Space I Would Like”) is the name given to the first Save the Children project supported by Ferrari, which aims to redevelop an educational and social hub of great significance in the fight against educational poverty. The starting point of the project is the conversion of the school building’s external space into an area suitable for outdoor education.
An initial co-design phase will actively involve not only students and local institutions, but also experts, teachers and parents in the collective process of creating a new space for teaching. The result will be a “green classroom” that will transform a disused area into a safe and sustainable learning environment for a community of almost 900 people, including students, teachers, school employees and family members.
The proceeds from the Cavalcade auction were donated in support of the project; during the auction the Maranello-based company’s clients won memorabilia, unique pieces from the Ferrari collection and exclusive experiences on the track, at the Maranello Style Centre and in the brand's boutiques.
“Cavalcade is an event that represents the dual soul of the Prancing Horse, comprising passion and tangible commitment. For Ferrari enthusiasts it is a time to celebrate the driving enjoyment our models provide and, at the same time, an opportunity to support the educational projects selected by the Company. In line with the project already launched in Taormina, we want to leverage schools to transform the life situation of children and adolescents, offering them educational and training opportunities,” commented Benedetto Vigna, CEO of Ferrari.
Ferrari Cavalcade is a unique event in the automotive world, to which only Ferrari clients and collectors from all over the world are invited. In the latest edition, which took place from 27 June to 2 July, about 120 Ferraris travelled approximately 1,300 km and paraded through historical town centres across central Italy before finishing their journey in the Eternal City.
