Maranello 30 September 2025

The 2025 season of the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli Japan was contested over five rounds, each comprising two races, held at some of Japan’s most historic circuits: Suzuka, Autopolis, Fuji (which hosted two rounds), and Okayama. Many Ferrari 296 Challenge cars participated, along with several 488 Challenge Evos, which competed in a dedicated class.

In the Trofeo Pirelli, the title went to Sota Muto (M.Auto Italia), while Motohiko Isozaki (Cornes Shiba) claimed the Trofeo Pirelli Am crown. Korean driver Phil Kim (Nicole Competizione) triumphed in the Coppa Shell, while France’s Alex Fox was fastest in the Coppa Shell Am. Yosuke Yamaki secured the Trofeo Pirelli 488 Challenge Evo title.

The 2025 edition of the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli Japan kicked off at the historic Suzuka Circuit, one of the world’s most iconic tracks, in conjunction with the Formula 1 Grand Prix. Twenty-nine cars went on the track, divided among four classes. Miki Koyama secured victories in both Trofeo Pirelli races, while Kanji Yagura and Motohiko Isozaki shared the spoils in the Trofeo Pirelli Am. Phil Kim dominated both Coppa Shell races, and Norikazu Shibata and Ryutaro Saito each claimed a win in the Coppa Shell Am.

The second round of the season was held at Autopolis. Having missed the opening round at Suzuka, Sota Muto made his debut in the Trofeo Pirelli with a win and a second place – bested in Race-2 by Tosei Moriyama. In the Trofeo Pirelli Am, Yasutaka Shirasaki and Motohiko Isozaki each secured a victory, while in the Coppa Shell, Phil Kim took a third consecutive win before Masafumi Hiwatashi claimed the honours in Race-2. Once again, Norikazu Shibata and Ryutaro Saito each claimed a win in the Coppa Shell Am. Autopolis also saw the debut of the Trofeo Pirelli 488 Challenge Evo, a class dedicated to previous-generation cars: Yosuke Yamaki was first across the line in both races.

The third round of the season took place in the summer heat of Fuji in June. In the Trofeo Pirelli, victories went to Nobuhiro Imada and Sota Muto, while in the Trofeo Pirelli Am, Kanji Yagura and Cold Max each claimed a win. Tsutomu Shimoyama won both Coppa Shell races, while Liang Cheng Yu and Alex Fox shared the honours in the Coppa Shell Am. In the Trofeo Pirelli 488 Challenge Evo, Deske claimed two wins.

Round four of the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli Japan was also held at Fuji, this time in July. Sota Muto continued his excellent form with two victories in the Trofeo Pirelli, matched by Kanji Yagura with a double-win in the Trofeo Pirelli Am. In the Coppa Shell, Phil Kim and Masaru Yoneda took one win each, while the Coppa Shell Am saw victories for Alex Fox and Masaharu Katsumata. Rookie Motoyuki Hori made it two from two in the Trofeo Pirelli 488 Challenge Evo.

The final round of the season was contested at Okayama in August. Mixed conditions led to exciting battles for the titles. Nobuhiro Imada and Sota Muto took the honours in the Trofeo Pirelli, with the latter clinching the championship in style with a victory in Race-2. Tsutomu Shimoyama and Yamatatsu emerged victorious in the Trofeo Pirelli Am, while Norikazu Shibata and Masaru Yoneda each earned wins in the Coppa Shell. In the Coppa Shell Am, victories went to Yasuhito Fukui and Takeshi Shogaki, while Michito Hirota dominated both Trofeo Pirelli 488 Challenge Evo races.
