Those errors not to be forgotten
Enzo Ferrari once said that “second is the first of the losers”. His goal was victory and he never tried to hide it, always believing that the most important win was not the most recent, but the next. No one else could see the positives in defeats and difficulties quite like Enzo. For him, they were valuable lessons that helped the Scuderia grow, improve and rise to the top.
From the “promising failure” of his 125 S on its race debut in Piacenza – which, indeed, won at Caracalla immediately afterwards – to the “error cupboard” where the Founder collected all failed mechanical components to study them, understand why they failed and ensure the same mistake could never happen again.
On the anniversary of his death, 14 August 1988, we wish to remember him that way: a man with a tireless desire for victory, whose success was earned not on straight and easy roads, but those that posed the greatest challenges of all.
