Comments after the Hyperpole in Austin
Two Ferraris will start from the front row at the Lone Star Le Mans, the sixth round of the 2025 FIA WEC, scheduled for the COTA circuit in Texas on Sunday, 7 September at 1.00 p.m. (local time). The number 83 499P from the privateer AF Corse team will start first, ahead of the number 51 car from the Ferrari – AF Corse team. The other official car, number 50, qualified fifth.
Here are the statements following the Hyperpole.
Nicklas Nielsen, 499P #50: “Fifth place is a good result because it came at the end of a complicated Hyperpole. On the only clear flying lap I had available, a wheel lock-up in the final corner made me lose time, compromising the final result. The race? We will see what the weather conditions are and we will do our best. Certainly, starting with three Ferraris in the top five positions is a very important fact.”
Antonio Giovinazzi, 499P #51: “We missed pole position by less than a tenth of a second, but we put in a great performance in not at all simple conditions, especially regarding the track grip. I am happy to see two Ferraris at the front and all the crews in the top-5 at the start of a race that will be crucial for consolidating our positions in the championship standings.”
Antonello Coletta, Global Head of Ferrari Endurance and Corse Clienti: “We achieved a great result in Hyperpole which will be strategic for this race; it is very important for our championship prospects. My compliments to the whole team for the work done. Seeing two 499Ps on the front row, with the number 51 and 83 crews currently leading the world drivers' standings and having secured a place on the third row with the number 50 Ferrari, is a great satisfaction. Looking ahead to the race, we are determined to do our best, confident that we can be competitive on this circuit.”
