Relive the 6 Hours of Spa of the Ferrari Hypercars with “The Red Line”

Maranello 19 May 2023

James Calado’s overtaking move on the last lap allowed the number 51 Ferrari 499P to climb the podium in the third round of the FIA World Endurance Championship. The 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, staged at the historic Belgian track on 29 April, saw the Maranello manufacturer consolidate its second place in the Constructors’ standings.

The new chapter in “The Red Line” series reveals the work of the Ferrari team before, during and after the Belgian endurance race. It does so from the packed grandstands, with over 72,000 spectators – an all-time record for the 6 Hours of Spa – including many Ferraristi from all over Europe, by way of the delicate preparation phases before qualifying and the race, held in the Ardennes forest with its typical weather-related uncertainties.

The Ferrari – AF Corse team experienced an emotionally intense weekend, which opened with two of the Prancing Horse Hypercars starring in a thrilling start to the race. Setting off in second position, with Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina and Nicklas Nielsen, and in third with the crew of Alessandro Pier Guidi, Antonio Giovinazzi and Calado himself, after leading in the early stages, the two 499Ps ran a race that was tricky in parts and ended prematurely for the number 50 Hypercar.

Chapter three of the series is available on the official “Ferrari” YouTube channel and at ferrari.com; After the opening leg at Sebring, in the USA, and Portimão, in Portugal, Spa-Francorchamps hosted the race that precedes the most eagerly awaited event of the year, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which will run on 10-11 June.
