Spa-Francorchamps 27 April 2023

The weekend of the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, round three of the FIA World Endurance Championship, kicked off with the first free practice. In a 90-minute timed session, affected by two red flags totalling 12 minutes, the Ferraris posted the second and fourth fastest times, respectively, with the number 50 and 51 Hypercars.

The 499Ps took part in the Thursday morning session at the historic Belgian circuit under dry track conditions and air temperatures slightly over 11°C. The crew of Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina and Nicklas Nielsen racked up 29 laps, with the benchmark time (2’04’’632) set by the Italian driver, who was behind the wheel for nine laps. They were 1’650 behind the number 8 Toyota, leader of the first free practice. The number 51 Ferrari completed the same number of laps in the first timed session: Alessandro Pier Guidi stopped the clock in 2’04”716 (+1”734), alternating at the wheel with James Calado and Antonio Giovinazzi.

Thursday’s programme in Belgium will continue with Free Practice 2 from 4.20 to 5.50 p.m. (all times are local).
