Ferrari 499Ps star in Le Mans Test Day

    Le Mans 05 giugno 2023

Track activities at the Sarthe circuit kicked off with Test Day, during which the crews racing in the Centenary 24 Hours of Le Mans could take to the asphalt of the historic French track.

Two timed sessions, in the morning and late afternoon, helped fine-tune the 499Ps participating in round four of the FIA WEC in the Hypercar class. The six hours yielded encouraging results for the Ferrari – AF Corse team ahead of the endurance race that will see the Maranello manufacturer back in the top class after half a century.

In the first session, the 499P number 50 posted the best time of 3’30”686 when Antonio Fuoco was at the steering wheel. The Italian shares the car with Spaniard Miguel Molina and Dane Nicklas Nielsen. In the afternoon, Antonio Giovinazzi set the fastest lap (3’29”504) in the number 51 Hypercar, with which the Italian driver competes in the world championship alongside compatriot Alessandro Pier Guidi and Briton James Calado.

At the close of day, the Ferrari team posed for the traditional group photo taken at one of the most iconic stretches of the Le Mans circuit: the Virage du raccordement, the “S” curve that leads onto the finishing straight.
