The 499Ps in action in São Paulo

On the historic Brazilian circuit of Interlagos, which this weekend hosts the 6 Hours of São Paulo – the fifth leg of the 2025 FIA WEC – the 499Ps took to the track today for the opening two free practice sessions, held over a total of three hours.

The crews of the official Ferrari – AF Corse team completed 102 and 97 laps respectively in the number 50 and 51 cars. The number 83 car entered by AF Corse – winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans last month – completed 104 laps.

Free Practice 1. The first session took place in the morning on a dry track and in cool temperatures, with air and asphalt registering 19°C and 23°C respectively.

The number 50 crew – Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina and Nicklas Nielsen – took turns at the wheel to complete 48 laps, setting a best time of 1’25’’260, good enough for second place.

In the opening 90-minute timed session, used by the drivers and the team to rack up mileage and work on the car set-up, on a circuit that has been completely resurfaced since the 6 Hours in 2024, the teammates in the number 51 car (Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado and Antonio Giovinazzi) completed 46 laps with a best time of 1’26’’455, placing 17th overall.

Ferrari official driver Yifei Ye, together with Robert Kubica and Phil Hanson in the 499P sporting the Giallo Modena livery, set the eighth fastest time thanks to a best lap of 1’25’’400 on the 4.309-kilometre Interlagos circuit, in a session that saw the AF Corse car complete 52 laps.

Free Practice 2. From 3.45 p.m., the cars were back on track for the second session, which lasted one hour and 30 minutes in conditions similar to the morning, with the air temperature reaching 18°C and the track temperature remaining around 23°C.

The fastest Ferrari was the number 50, setting a time of 1’24”148, earning tenth position, with a 0’’640 gap from the session leader, the number 6 Porsche. The number 83 and 51 499Ps, meanwhile, finished twelfth and seventeenth respectively. The two Ferrari – AF Corse cars completed 54 and 51 laps in the afternoon, while the AF Corse car completed 52.

The schedule. Saturday 12 July opens with Free Practice 3 at 10.10 a.m., followed by Hypercar class qualifying (3.25 to 3.37 p.m.) and the Hyperpole session (3.45 to 3.55 p.m.), which will determine the starting grid for the race starting on Sunday, 13 July at 11.30 a.m. (all times are local).
