Lewis: “I like this track, but we’re taking things one step at a time”

Maranello 31 July 2025

Lewis Hamilton met the media this afternoon at the Scuderia Ferrari HP hospitality, where he commented on the day’s major news: the extension of Team Principal Fred Vasseur’s contract.
“I’m happy about it. He told me yesterday,” said Lewis. “I think it’s the best thing for the team, and also for me. As I’ve said before, one of the reasons I joined this team was to work with Fred again, so I’m pleased.”

Progress. The British driver went on to discuss the latest updates to the SF-25. “I think they’ve allowed us to take a step forward, which is always positive. I’ve always believed this team has everything it needs to succeed and fight for wins. It’s just about bringing all the details together. We’re all pushing flat out – myself, Charles, Fred, and the entire team. We’re united and working closely together.”

This weekend. Hamilton, an eight-time winner at the Hungaroring, reflected on his record at the track. “It’s definitely one I enjoy and where I’ve usually had straightforward races that delivered strong results. But you could’ve said the same about Spa – and last week, only Sunday really came together,” he noted. “So the best approach is to take each session as it comes, stay focused on ourselves, and aim to maximise the package we’ve got. Charles showed in Belgium what the SF-25 is capable of, and I’ll be doing everything I can to bring home a strong result.”
