Finali mondiali: rain-soaked qualifying at mugello for the final act of the Ferrari Challenge

Scarperia 22 October 2025

After the free practice sessions held on Wednesday morning, the week of the Finali Mondiali at the Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello got into full swing on Wednesday afternoon with the qualifying sessions for the final round of the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli Europe and North America, scheduled for Thursday, 23 and Friday, 24 October.

Ferrari Challenge Europe. In a Trofeo Pirelli qualifying session heavily affected by pouring rain and brought to a definitive halt two minutes before the scheduled 30, Andrew Morrow (Charles Hurst), driver in the Am class, clinched overall pole position for Thursday’s race. The British driver was ahead of Björn Grossmann (B.I. Corse – Octane126), who will start from pole in the Trofeo Pirelli category. For the second race, scheduled on Friday, the Trofeo Pirelli pole position – determined by the second fastest lap in the session – went to the leader of the overall standings, Felix Hirsiger (Ineco – Reparto Corse RAM), ahead of Björn Grossmann and Andrew Morrow, once again first among the Am drivers.

In the Coppa Shell, the best time for Race-1 was set by the experienced Ernst Kirchmayr (Kessel Racing), who managed to master the challenges of the wet circuit, while his teammate, Fons Scheltema, secured his first pole position of the season and will start first in Race-2.

In Coppa Shell Am, the eagerly awaited duel between Sven Schömer (Penske Sportwagen Hamburg) and Jan Sandmann (Kessel Racing), separated by only ten points in the overall standings before the final act of the sporting season, was already ignited in qualifying. On the wet asphalt, Schömer managed to get the better of his rival by just 24 thousandths of a second, also setting the fastest lap for Friday’s race.

Ferrari Challenge North America. Rain and poor visibility shortened the qualifying session for the North American series, in which Johnny Kaminskey (Ferrari of Long Island) set the fastest time in the Trofeo Pirelli for both races, while Rafael Duran (The Collection) twice topped the Am class. A double pole position also went to Mitchell Green (Ferrari of Westlake) in the Coppa Shell and to Melissa Kozyra (Ferrari of Naples) in the Coppa Shell Am.

Programme. On Thursday, 23 October, the Finali Mondiali Ferrari schedule includes the first races of the Prancing Horse’s single-marque series.

The European races will kick off in the following order: Coppa Shell at 10.15 a.m., Trofeo Pirelli and Trofeo Pirelli Am together at 12.05 p.m.
