Voices from the podium of race 2 at Silverstone

Silverstone 07 September 2025

The Ferrari Challenge UK Trofeo Pirelli closed the 2025 season with Race 2 at the historic Silverstone circuit, the home of motorsport in the United Kingdom. Near the podium, the protagonists of the two classes, Trofeo Pirelli and Coppa Shell, commented on their performances at the wheel of the Ferrari Challenge 296.

Gilbert Yates (Charles Hurst), winner in Trofeo Pirelli

Pranav Vangala (HR Owen), second in Trofeo Pirelli: “Always fun to get a bit of a challenge in and start a couple of places back from where I've been most of the season. I knew it would be tough, you know, Bradley Yates is quick and Oscar Ryndziewicz has also shown his pace - so it wouldn't be easy - but commiserations to the guys who had the bad start there and glad they're okay. Now, after the restart, I was disappointed to lose the place that I had originally made up, but I had a fun battle with Bradley for a couple of laps, and then managed to finally get Oscar at the Vale Chicane. I knew that I couldn't chase Gilbert Yates down after that, but it felt like it was a clean few laps after that to finish up what's been a fantastic season. So glad to take home another P2 and just grateful to everyone for it for the opportunity”.

Bradley Yates (Charles Hurst), third in Trofeo Pirelli: “The race has been tough. Two cars were battling in front of me pretty much all of it, and I was just trying to hold on them. I got an opportunity, had a bit of contact, slipped up the inside and then I thought I was gonna be quick enough to get P2, but dropped back. I didn't continue the good driving so just tried to hold P3 for the end”.

Peter Hunter (Stratstone Manchester), winner in Coppa Shell:

Mike Dewhirst (Dick Lovett Swindon), second in Coppa Shell: “Yeah, obviously, very fairly wrong at the start. I got hit on the side. We were going into the first turn, the whole pack was moving to the right. We all moved to the right. Somebody didn't and dove into to the side of me. So I feel that there was a bit of unnecessary overeager start. That's not the place to overtake someone, and if you do get alongside, what are you going to do at the first corner? Just crash into people. So I think that was that a non-move. Then obviously we got restarted, we all settled down reasonably nicely, Paul was putting a bit of pressure on me, and then I got a drive-through penalty for the first start. Which I don’t understand but we’ll go back and have a look at it”.

Darren Howell (Jct600 Leeds), third in Coppa Shell: “It was a really good race. A tough race, but I want to dedicate it to all the guys from AF Corse who stayed until 10 o'clock last night fixing my car. It's amazing, Ferrari are just brilliant at that so thank you”.
