Face to face with ‘The Doctor’ Stephen Earle
A story closely intertwined with Ferrari is that of Stephen Earle, known to everyone as ‘The Doctor’, who has been a regular in the paddock and at Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli Europe races for 33 years, since 1993. We met him during the Spa-Francorchamps round of the Prancing Horse single-marque series, one of his all-time favourite circuits, to learn more about the driver and the man.
In the interview, Earle, driver for the Kessel Racing team, talks about his experience in the Ferrari Challenge, also sharing the emotions of tackling the iconic Eau Rouge corner.
From that bend to the small river in the Ardennes from which that part of the circuit takes its name, it also became a chance for a symbolic ‘dive’ into his homeland, the United States, and into his life away from the track, when, once the racing suit is set aside, he puts on the coat of ‘The Doctor’.
