Winners’ comments after Race 2 at The Bend
The inaugural Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli Australasia season came to an exciting end at The Bend. With one title left to be decided, Race 2 ensured an exciting fight between the two leading contenders and also welcomed a rookie winner in another class.
Antoine Gittany, Trofeo Pirelli winner: “I saw Jim (Pollicina) in the mirrors and I was a bit worried because he’s an experienced racer, so I thought he'd go for a dive somewhere. Lucky he didn’t! It’s been a good year, my rivals got a lot quicker throughout the season and on Friday I was nervous getting back into it after missing six months. It’s an amazing category, the cars are great and everyone is very respectful.”
Enzo Cheng, Coppa Shell winner: “I love this place. I’m from Sydney, but the next track that I’m next familiar with is The Bend. Every time I come to this place it’s always a pleasure. Race 1 at Bathurst was my worst result and I kept learning from that, so as the season wore on my performances got better to now enjoy my best weekend at The Bend. Ferrari knows how to put on an event at the top circuits in the country and it’s very much a family affair. It’s been an awesome experience. I want to do another season and move into Trofeo Pirelli with the aim to win that.
Paul Brockbank, Trofeo Pirelli winner: “It’s fantastic to win on my first event. I couldn’t ask for anything better. I had a great weekend, and I just want to say thanks to Ferrari for putting this on and I think it’s a fantastic category. I need to be back for more, this is just too much fun. I feel like I’m spoiled now because no-one does it like Ferrari!”
