Weekend Notebook: titles in IMSA and victories in France

Maranello 13 October 2025

Ferrari enjoyed a highly successful weekend on circuits around the world, with a double-win in the GTD class at Petit Le Mans and multiple victories in the Ultimate Cup European Series. In the final round of the IMSA SportsCar Challenge, Lilou Wadoux, Alessandro Pier Guidi, and Simon Mann triumphed in the number 21 AF Corse Ferrari 296 GT3, securing the Endurance Cup title in the process. Visiom’s Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo 2020 won the four-hour GT Endurance Cup race at Magny-Cours, while Lyle Schofield claimed victory in GT Sprint at the wheel of SR&R’s Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo.

IMSA. Ferrari ended the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship on a high note, capturing GTD honors with a 1-2 finish in the Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta on Saturday.

Factory drivers Lilou Wadoux and Alessandro Pier Guidi joined Simon Mann to take the first victory of the 2025 campaign for AF Corse in the No. 21 Ferrari 296 GT3. The team dominated the event. Wadoux turned in the fastest race lap, with all three drivers taking turns in the class lead.

The three drivers also captured GTD honors in the Endurance Cup, winning all three segments to claim the title, alongside the Teams and Manufacturers’ ones.

Triarsi Competizione made it a 1-2 finish, with James Calado coming up just 4.158 seconds short at the checkered flag in the No. 023 entry, joined by Kenton Koch and team owner/driver Onofrio Triarsi. Koch finished second in the GTD championship.

Ferrari and DragonSpeed entered the day running second in the battle for the GTD Pro Manufacturer, Team and Driver championships. Albert Costa entered the race a close second in the points, and the No. 81 Ferrari shared with Giacomo Altoè and factory driver Davide Rigon ran with the virtual lead for much of the opening five hours. A lengthy pit stop with less than six hours remaining cost the team more than 20 seconds. Altoè turned the fastest lap of the race during his stint, and then passed the championship rival car with less than four hours remaining to regain the points lead.

A couple of penalties hurt Costa down the stretch, dropping him to eighth. He fought back to run fifth with 46 minutes in the contest, but needed fuel late in the race and wound up placing seventh. Costa finished second in the final championship points, 73 back.

The GTD victory also helped to salve what was a very challenging opening lap of the race for Ferrari. Defending race winner Manny Franco, starting 10th in the No. 34 Conquest Racing Corsa Horizon Ferrari, spun in the downhill esses and stopped – directly in the path of the 15th-starting No. 70 Inception Racing Ferrari of Brendan Iribe. The two had a heavy nose-to-nose contact, resulting in significant damage and retirement for both cars.

Ferrari lost another contender nearly three hours into the race when the No. 021 Triarsi Competition Ferrari of Central Florida entry of A.J. Muss suffered damage on track and retired. Riccardo Agostini had qualified second and led the opening 80 minutes of the race before pitting.

The No. 47 Cetilar Racing Ferrari started on pole in GTD and came home with a 10th place finish for Patrese, Roberto Lacorte and factory driver Miguel Molina.

Ultimate Cup European Series. The penultimate round of the season took place at France’s Magny-Cours circuit. In the GT Endurance Cup, the number 1 Visiom Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo 2020 returned to the track after missing the previous round at Aragón and claimed victory in the four-hour race with the crew of Jean-Paul Pagny and Jean-Bernard Bouvet – who have competed in every round this season – joined on this occasion by Romain Iannetta. The result restores them to the top of both the overall and UCS1 class standings ahead of the season finale at Le Castellet.

In the Ultimate GT Sprint Cup, Lyle Schofield, driving the number 353 SR&R Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo, won Race-1 and finished second in Race-3. The Irish driver now holds a commanding lead in both the overall Scratch standings and the UCTC class for Prancing Horse and Maserati cars.

The season finale will run at Circuit Paul Ricard in Le Castellet from 7 to 10 November.
