296 LMGT3s back on the track at Fuji

Maranello 24 September 2025

The penultimate round of the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship takes place at Fuji International Speedway, the historic track at the foot of Mount Fuji. Three weeks after the previous round contested in the US, the Ferrari 296 LMGT3s of Vista AF Corse return for a race where the Prancing Horse has won the past two editions. The 6 Hours of Fuji will kick off at 11 a.m. local time on Sunday, 28 September.

The 296 LMGT3 number 21, crewed by François Heriau, Simon Mann and Ferrari official driver Alessio Rovera, arrives in Japan second in the world championship standings, 19 points behind the leader, despite finishing outside the top ten in the last two rounds. Confidence is high in the sister car, number 54, crewed by Thomas Flohr, Francesco Castellacci and fellow official driver Davide Rigon. They finished third in Austin and are coming off back-to-back wins at Fuji, in 2023 with the 488 GTE Evo and in 2024 with the 296 LMGT3.

Milestone. The seventh round of the 2025 FIA WEC also marks an important milestone: it is the 100th World Championship race since the FIA WEC’s inaugural season in 2012. Over the past 13 years, Ferrari has achieved 63 race wins: seven overall victories in the Hypercar class, three in LMGT3, 31 in LMGTE Pro, and 28 in LMGTE Am.

At Japan’s Fuji circuit, Ferrari has triumphed four times in LMGTE Pro (2014, 2015, 2017 and 2022), twice in LMGTE Am (2017 and 2023), and once in LMGT3 (2024). Thomas Flohr and Francesco Castellacci have accounted for three of those wins: two in LMGTE Am (2017 and 2023), and one in LMGT3 last year. The most recent triumphs featured Davide Rigon as part of the crew, while their first victory was achieved with Ferrari Hypercar official driver Miguel Molina as teammate.

The standings. The number 21 Ferrari 296 LMGT3 of Heriau, Mann and Rovera arrives at Fuji second in the world championship standings with 76 points, 19 behind the leader. The sister car of Flohr, Castellacci and Rigon holds eighth place on 46 points.

Times. The Fuji weekend begins on Friday, 26 September, with two 90-minute free practice sessions at 10.15 a.m. and 2.30 p.m. On Saturday, 27 September, the third free practice session will start at 9.50 a.m., followed by qualifying at 2.20 p.m. and the LMGT3 Hyperpole at 2.40 p.m. The six-hour race begins at 11 a.m. on Sunday, 28 September (all times local).
