Seven Ferraris at the Nürburgring for the GT World Challenge Europe
After the summer break, the GT World Challenge Europe – Endurance Cup returns for round four of the season, from 29 to 31 August at the renowned Nürburgring circuit. Seven Ferrari 296 GT3s will be among the 61 cars in action in Germany at the so-called “Green Hell”, with four official drivers competing: Arthur Leclerc, Antonio Fuoco, Alessio Rovera and Alessandro Pier Guidi.
Pro Class. Still aiming for its first outright win of the season, the Maranello manufacturer seeks to make its mark on a circuit where it has yet to triumph in this series. The two AF Corse – Francorchamps Motors cars return to action after securing a podium finish at the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, where the number 51 Ferrari, driven by Alessandro Pier Guidi, Alessio Rovera, and Vincent Abril, finished third. The Italian-Belgian team’s second entry, the number 50 Ferrari driven by Arthur Leclerc, Antonio Fuoco, and Eliseo Donno, were fourth under the chequered flag.
Bronze Cup. In the Bronze class, the trio of Dustin Blattner, Conrad Laursen, and Dennis Marschall in the number 74 Kessel Racing Ferrari 296 GT3 has the chance to secure the overall title early. Currently leading the standings, the crew have 81 points, compared to 60 for their closest rivals. Kessel Racing’s crew has been among the standout performers so far this season, winning the opening round at Paul Ricard and at the 24 Hours of Spa. It means that victory at the Nürburgring would be enough to clinch the title.
Also competing in the Bronze class is Kessel Racing’s second entry, the number 8 Ferrari crewed by Nicolò Rosi, Niccolò Schirò and David Fumanelli, which finished eighth in the Belgian classic.
Completing the Ferrari 296 GT3 line-up are the number 52 AF Corse – Francorchamps Motors car driven by Jef and Louis Machiels alongside Tommaso Mosca, who finished ninth at Spa, and the number 93 Ziggo Sport Tempesta entry with Chris Froggatt, Eddie Cheever III, and Jonathan Hui.
Silver Cup. In the German round, Rinaldi Racing will compete in the Silver class and entrust the number 12 Ferrari 296 GT3 to a brand-new line-up with David Perel confirmed alongside Rafael Duran and Fabrizio Crestani.
