Maranello, 2 October - Philipp Peter and Michael Broniszweski put their own seal on the International GT Open championship by taking their first victory of the season. The 458 Italia GT2 run by the Kessel Racing team dominated Race 1 of the weekend’s racing at Monza, displaying clear superiority over their opponents. There was, though, a great battle for second place with Marco Frezza and Juan Manuel Lopez (Vittoria Competizioni) taking the place ahead of Alessandro Garofano and Luca Rangoni (AF Corse) on their first weekend with the new Ferrari 458 Italia GT2. There was a genuine supremacy shown by the cars from the Maranello manufacturer as Ferrari closed out the first five places; in addition to the first three, the 458 Italia GT2 of Andrea Montermini-Emanuele Moncini (Villorba Corse) was 4th and the Ferrari raced by the two drivers called Alexander Talkanitsa (AT Racing Team) finished 5th. The protagonists in the International GT Open will be back in action today at 13.15 for the second and final round. Starting from pole position will be Niki Cadei at the wheel of the AF Corse Ferrari F430GTC that he shares with Claudio Sdanewitsch. That grid position came courtesy of an excellent performance in the second round of qualifying in which he finished a few thousandths ahead of the 458 Italia of Andrea Montermini (Villorba Corse).
