Gold for Malucelli at Mugello. Kruglyk on top in Coppa Shell

Mugello (Scarperia), 25 September –The fifth round of the Italian Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli saw 37 cars chasing for championship points and with the Vallelunga round still to go, Stefano Gai leads the Pirelli classification in the closing stages. Both races were won by Matteo Malucelli on his second appearance of the season, while in the Coppa Shell, Kruglyk made it to the top step of the podium.

In the Trofeo Pirelli category, Matteo Malucelli emerged victorious in the first race which featured plenty of overtaking action: the Motor/Malucelli team driver finished ahead of Stefano Gai (Rossocorsa) and Lorenzo Bontempelli (Kessel Racing), who put up a great fight throughout the 25 minute race. As for the Coppa Shell, Andrii Kruglyk (Rossocorsa) took the win, confirming the excellent form he had shown in the previous day’s qualifying, ahead of his team-mate Mario Molteni and Daniele Di Amato (CDP), while Sergio Rota (Motor/Piacenza) was first past the flag of those drivers racing the F430, with Giovanni Cappelletti (Rossocorsa/Pellin) and Fernando Baiz (Rossocorsa) second and third respectively.

In the second Trofeo Pirelli contest, Malucelli got his second win, with two Rossocorsa drivers Bjorn Grossmann and Stefano Gai behind him. After Lorenzo Bontempelli (Kessel Racing) went out on lap 12, Gai consolidates his leadership in the Trofeo Pirelli with a lead of 20 points over his closest rival in the race to the title. In the Coppa Shell, victory went again to Andrii Kruglyk, followed by Benedetto Marti (Motor/Piacenza) and Mario Molteni (Rossocorsa), with Andrea Belluzzi (Motor/Modena) taking top honours among the F430 drivers, beating Sergio Rota (Motor/Piacenza) and Sossio del Prete (CDP) past the flag.

The Italian series of the one-make championship will be back for one of the last event at Vallelunga circuit, prior to the World Finals which is being hosted on 6 November, for the fourth time at the Mugello circuit.
