Maranello, 20 August – A 458 Italia finished on the second step of the podium at the end of the fifth round of the FIA GT3 European Championship, which was making its first visit to the Slovakiaring at Orechová Potôň, 40 kilometres from Bratislava. The Slovakian circuit was opened three years ago and today it hosted the first of two races: series leaders Federico Leo and Francesco Castellacci took their AF Corse car to second behind the Mercedes SLS AMG of Dominik Baumann and Brice Bosi, while third went to the BMW Z4 of Csaba Walter and Claudia Hurtgen. Another Ferrari finished in the top ten, with Duncan Cameron and Matthew Griffin driving the British Mtech Motorsport car to seventh place. The second and final round of the weekend starts at 11.15 tomorrow.
