Misano Adriatico (Rimini,) 9 July – The Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli is back in action at the Misano Adriatico circuit for the first time since 2008, for the third round of the Italian series. Twenty two cars took to the track today for two qualifying session to decide the starting grid order for the two races that take place tomorrow with Malucelli starting from pole, while take the top slot for Coppa Shell were Daniele Di Amato and Benedetto Marti.
In the first qualifying session, Matteo Malucelli driving for the Motor/ Malucelli team was fastest on the day (1.40.402), out pacing Lorenzo Bontempelli of Kessel Racing (1.40.960) and Rossocorsa’s driver Stefano Gai (1.41.252), all in the Trofeo Pirelli category. In the Coppa Shell, the very young novice in the series, Daniele Di Amato (CDP) came out on top in the scrap for pole (1.41.680) getting the better of the more experienced Benedetto Marti for the Motor/Piacenza team (1.42.279) and Rossocorsa/Pellin’s Tommaso Rocca (1.42.572). Diego Romanini (Rossocorsa/Pellin) was quickest (1.45.783) of those drivers using the F430 Challenge car ahead of his teammate Giovanni Cappelletti (1.46.079) and Roberto Ragazzi of Ineco/Ram (1.46.629).
When it came to the second session, made even more demanding by the high temperatures, pole position in the main category went again to Matteo Malucelli (1.40.493) followed by Lorenzo Bontempelli (1.40.933) and Giorgio Sernagiotto of Motor/Piacenza (1.41.342), while the Coppa Shell action saw the fastest time set by Benedetto Marti (1.41.914) followed by Tommaso Rocca (1.42.419) and Emilio Rossi (1.42.492). Riccardo Ragazzi of Ineco/Ram (1.45.176) was fastest of those using the F430 ahead of Giovanni Cappelletti (1.46.299) and Diego Romanini (1.46.391), both of them running for Rossocorsa/Pellin.
Tomorrow’s programme features two races starting at 10.35 and 14.25.
