Maranello - Dear Ferrari fans and users of our website, who are participating passionately more than ever. We want to invite you to participate in this online questionnaire, which will enable us to further improve the new ferrari.com website, which has been completely renovated just over a month ago. Your advice as far as content and graphics on the new website is concerned - with the most innovative Web 2.0 multimedia techniques - will be very helpful.

The questionnaire - available in English and Italian - will give you the possibility to tell us what you think about the different topics and sections on ferrari.com – from the GT car production to the history of the Prancing Horse and the wide section dedicated to Formula One, with, amongst other content, the new Muretto and Maranello Experience. With this survey we want to understand your preferences as far as the topics you prefer are concerned – such as the Ferrari Store online, the Ferrari Virtual Race simulator and the Blog/Forum, where you are participating passionately, enabling us to count more and more on an exceptional community, whose members know how to criticise, but are always there when their support is needed.

Thank you for your attention and the possible participation in the questionnaire. Follow the links to the two questionnaires in the respective languages:

Design and hi-tech of the Ferrari new cars

Ferrari brought two world previews with an exceptional character to the 79th International Car Show in Geneva. Although the two cars are very different one from another, they both have a distinctive dynamic. They are both based on the Gran Turismo 599 GTB Fiorano, but the work carried out by the technicians from Maranello was substantial and gave life to the new HGTE for the road car, which underlines the positioning of the 12-cylinder from Maranello and the new special series, the 599XX, which will be exclusively driven on race tracks. On both cars the technicians worked on the setup, the mechanical details and the electronics.

The car sits lower and the springs and dampers are more rigid for a better dynamic performance of the 599 GTB Fiorano HGTE (Handling Gran Turismo Evoluzione) especially when entering corners. The F1 gearbox is now even faster, while the throttle control has been modified for faster reaction. The tyre’s special rubber compound offers better grip. The design and the materials used are following the technical indications, which can be seen by the wide use of carbon fibre not only for the car’s body but also in its interior, where also refined leather and black Alcantara are used. The 599 GTB Fiorano HGTE is fitted with new sport seats with the back part completely made out of carbon fibre and bi-colour leather-black Alcantara. The body of the car shown in Geneva was presented with a brand-new three-layered metallic red livery.

A completely different project with a completely different technological content never seen before on board of a car was the other great novelty at Geneva: the 599XX, a car, which will not be homologated for road use. It’s a super sports car, with the main part of its technical content from the world of motorsports, aimed at selected clients, who want to experience the emotion of driving on a race track or improving their driving capabilities, also thanks to the Corse Clienti department’s team and the advice from professional Ferrari drivers, who will follow the clients and their cars at the events in 2010/11, where the client test drivers will have the possibility to drive their FXX on different tracks.

Several modifications have been carried out as far as the 12-cylinder engine is concerned: the combustion, the aspiration, the outlet and the rotation has been improved to up to 9,000 rpm, generating 700 BHP. The gearbox software has been modified, which led to gear change times of 60 milliseconds. Furthermore the 599XX is fitted with completely new electronics, based on a system called “High Performance Dynamic Concept”, a complex of technical solutions to optimize the mechanical and the electronic parts, reaching the maximum output also during extreme operations. The sporty handling could be improved thanks to the use of second generation magnetorheological fluid suspension control, while sporty driving benefits from the so called “virtual car engineer”, monitoring efficiency and use of the car in real time, delivering, through a special device on board, the necessary information to the driver.

As far as aerodynamic is concerned the 599XX is the first car fitted with the Actiflow™ system, contributing to higher downforce, changing the car’s aerodynamic resistance and adjusting it to the conditions on the race track. Two fans in the boot are sucking air from the car’s underbody (thanks to the diffuser’s porous material), ejecting it through two grills sitting next to the tail-lights. The car’s higher performance also benefits from material such as carbon fibre and aluminium, which made the 599XX even lighter. Also the brake pads are made out of carbon fibre, which improves the performance of the carbon-ceramic brakes. The 19’’ slicks have been developed ad hoc, delivering a higher stability in corners and improving the Ferrari 599XX’s lateral acceleration. To underline the 599XX’s sporty behaviour it’s livery sports the colours of the F2008.

Sportsmanlike behaviour and passion

From Silverstone to France, from England’s temple of motorsports to Le Castellet’s futuristic circuit, with its numerous configurations and traffic lights instead of the traditional flags. Between these two races the Italian Challenge run at Vallelunga. The atmosphere is the same: competition, sportsmanlike behaviour and passion. There are different winners in the races, but the standings start getting a certain shape: Blancardi seems to be slightly faster than his competitors, always fighting with the French driver Barde, but also with the two young drivers Baron and Grossmann. Apropos young: 2008 was a season with numerous young new talents on the track, putting their abilities to the test at the Challenge. There were many names I got to know in their moments of glory or of disappointment: Marco Mapelli, Giorgio Sernagiotto, Philipp Baron and Bjorn Grossmann, Riccardo Ragazzi, Stefano Gai, Nicolas Misslin and Ragazzi, who has a bright future. These men animated the races over this wonderful season. In France it was Niki Cadei showing off his great talent, not leaving much room for his competitors in the Pirelli Trophy Italy. The racing series dedicated to the F430 are not the only thing I’ve experienced on my trip inside the Corse Clienti. It’s absolutely impossible to forget the engine sounds of the cars from the Historic Challenge. This is the history of the Prancing Horse: breathtaking models from every era. I’ve seen things you can’t even imagine. Very often I was speechless: a 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO on the track, or a duel between two F 512 BB, cars you usually can only see in museums. But at the Mugello Racing Days the spectators could almost touch. And when the engines were running and the cars lined up on the grid there was even more, when the historical Formula One single-seaters appeared, the cars from the Clienti department at Maranello. With these cars names of historical significance like  Michael Schumacher, Rubens Barrichello, Niki Lauda and Michele Alboreto competed for the Prancing Horse. Incredible seeing these cars right in front of my eyes, with the Ferrari mechanics working on them, as if they were starting into a Formula One race. Although it was really hot at the race in France, I have to admit that it was even hotter at Misano, where the Italian racing series held its next race. Cadei went on winning in the Pirelli Trophy, while the Shell Cup was a duel between generations with the young Ragazzi and the experienced drivers Benedetto Marti and Massimo Mantovani.

An exciting experience

A long Challenge season came to an end. It was a fascinating and exciting experience. It was definitely a long season, because it started at the end of March and ended at the wonderful race track of Mugello just a couple of days ago. Almost nine months, where I had time to get to know the secrets and the history of this single-marque racing series; the most famous and exiting series in the world. I still remember my first day at the paddock at Monza, where the first race of the Italian and European series was held. I met Domenico Fantasia, the logistic genius for the Corse Clienti. He immediately explained to me the technical details and the magic of the fantastic F430, queen of the Challenge. I have to admit I was a bit shy, when I saw all these cars from the Prancing Horse. It was a really stunning experience at the box and the pitwall, because it was the first time for me that I was behind the scenes at such an incredible motorsports event. But in the end I wasn’t shy anymore, because I also had pretty much work to do. When I saw the cars lining up for the start, the adrenaline level rose. The Challenge 2008 started and I was ready to write about it, tell you about my feelings and the sensation such a race can cause, but also about the drivers, the team managers and the mechanics. It was easy to see that there’s a golden thread, connecting everybody involved in the Challenge: passion for Ferrari and the love for motorsports. Following this thread I was able to see the most spectacular race tracks in Italy and Europe, up to Mugello, where the fact that we met the Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro, the Formula One team of the Prancing Horse, was the season’s most natural conclusion. From Monza we went to Silverstone, “home of British motorsports”, as the billboard reads above the track’s entrance. It was cold and foggy over the whole weekend, when the standings of the European Shell Cup and Pirelli Trophy got their first shape: on the British track Max Blancardi and Mike Cantillon started their race for the title, although they had to wait until crossing the line at Mugello to win the series. This is a sign of how difficult these racing series are and how the drivers have to work hard for every race, giving it all, to bring back home precious points over the whole season. Meanwhile in the background there are great teams, such as Rossocorsa, Motor, Ferrari GB Dealer, Ineco and all the others, who constantly work on the cars before and after the races. Every time I left the media centre late in the evening I could still see the mechanics at work, setting up the F430s in the best possible way for the race.

Paul Ricard: past and future

Hello to all the friends of the our Community, I’m Max and I’ve been part of the staff at Ferrariworld for a couple of weeks to follow the events and produce interviews at the Challenge circuits; from here I can show you everything what’s going on behind the scenes and tell you about the secrets of this fascinating world. I hope that we’ll talk about many things, which keep your flame for Ferrari burning. At the moment I’m in France at Le Castellet, the high-tech circuit of Paul Ricard.Past and future. These two words immediately came to my mind when I arrived here in the morning at Paul Ricard. This Racing Days weekend has a great schedule: Saturday and Sunday there will be the races of the European Challenge Pirelli Trophy and the Shell Cup, but also the runs of the Italian edition of the same class, plus the races of the Historic Challenge, for the historical cars from Ferrari and Maserati…and the historical Formula One cars, cared for by the F1 Clienti department at Maranello. As you can see there’s a fantastic range from the Prancing Horse with really breathtaking cars from all eras. Walking through the paddock you can see cars such as the incredible 1961 Ferrari 625F1 and when you turn around the corner there are mechanics working on a Ferrari 430. Everything was in place today for a great first day of the race weekend. After a couple of days with heavy rain today it seemed as if the weather was clearing up, although there was just bits of sun peeking through the clouds. The drivers arrived for the first meeting, one of the most important moments to understand everything about the work at the track. Apropos track: the race track of Le Castellet has numerous configurations. For the Racing Days the teams and drivers have to compete against each other on the configuration called 1C-V2, which is 5,842 km long. Drivers, who have already driven on this configuration, told me that this is one with a really high level. We can look out for some exciting races then. Today was the day for Free Practice as far as the Challenge with the 430 was concerned, while the cars of the Historic Challenge had their first official Qualifying session.

F1 2007 Season Conclusion

October 21, 2007 · Posted by staffFerrari

To conclude the season, i simply think we are the best team in the world along with the best drivers! We had problems when McLaren was using our data, we had problems with the development of the car when the wind tunnel was not working, we had reliability issues, but we managed to solve everything! If you think how bad our pace was with the soft and supersoft tyres and then looking at today's pure domination, it just shows exactly what i said above! We are simply the best! I really am incredibly proud to be a supporter of this team! Everyone is superhuman and i would really like to thank and congratulate them for this success! About our drivers, what can i say? Kimi proved simply superb and i m just so happy he left McLaren and got what he deserved in Ferrari! I think the guy can really dominate every race with the right car. Felipe, an incredibly fast driver who can be there if Kimi is not, helping a lot during the season and particularly in Brazil where i believe he deserved the win but showed what a great team player he is! I really think he s a huge part of this success! However, i must say that i would like to see him more consistent and better in the wet. I hope next year he ll show that too. All in all, i think he's a great second driver! To finish, a big congratulations to everyone in our team! You all made us extremelly proud getting the title after 2 years, showing that we still are the best team without the old dream team. The last couple of races showed that anything can happen in F1 and i really believe justice was awarded today! Once more, congratulations and let s hope for a dominant season next year with the 1 and 2 finally on our cars again! You are all simply fantastic!

Mai dire Mai / Never say Never

The Nurburgring still hits !

Do not say to me that yesterday there are bores to you? I not sure and I wish to who thought this F1 is frozen have change his opinion. Yes because in the European Gp he has been a true winner but was not on the podio. The winner is he,the old Nurburgring. An historical, mythical, epic circuit. A circuit that it has made and it still continues to make many victims. Task that to define it European Gp is the better thing, in fact along its 5 Km seems to change nation after every curve. Sun, rain, storm, all are in the style of this circuit. The pilot who wins in its history for three times on this circuit is named Knight, evidently he is the true adversary to strike. Beautiful contest, moving, intense and rich of dramatic turn of events. I doubt that the next year to Hockenheim we will live again the same emotions. I'm too sorry for for the final result. We had the possibility to make a marvellous one two  but... Do not come now to say to me that we have unfortune because I am not agree. The fortune does not exist, we are the craftsmen of our fortune. Consequently all which has happened it is alone guilt of a rubber train and an hydraulic system. I admire the sincerity with which all the men of the team have expressed themselves, the guilt is ours, the errors have had to reliability problems. But, as Jean Todt says, we never do not let go and we will make of all in order improving also from this point. I would want only to send a message to Felipe: THANKS FELIPEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! Thanks because yesterday you have made the beautifulst gift that us tifosi we waited for a long time: finally someone has sent to....  the unpleasant Alonso in live time!!!.

Il risultato migliore / The best result

Is difficult to think that ours is a team who satisfy itself. Still less it is to think that We are the Tifosi that we satisfy ourself. But we must be objects to you: this was the best one turned out obtainable after the qualifications of Saturday. Boys we are sincere, we knew it that the only Gp in which we could have had problems was Monaco. For me the Team has obtained the best one turned out possible. Felipe has been perfect, has had one lead of constant and cleaned up contest. Kimi has made a huge one progress, numerous surpasses on a track in which it is practically impossible to exceed and finally he enter in points zone. We must be satisfied and make however compliments to all.FORZA FERRARI SEMPRE !!!

As all know the world of motors always has been legacy also to the presence of truly beautiful women. Our friend Massimo MGM970 has not lost time, with the excuse to admire a beautifulst Ferrari 166MM Spyder Vignale of 1953, has known (as we say towed "rimorchiato") the beautiful American owners from Wisconsin. Complimenti Kimi ! Semplicemente perfetti. Ragazzi siete unici. Congratulation Kimi !Simply perfect. The first Gp of the new season is opened with the confirmation of the clean superiority of the Ferrari. Manca poco ! It lacks little! Work in progress at  the Albert  Parks and as you can see from the photo the Kimi's box seems nearly ready. But we are ready? We are warm? I'm! I have just programmed the alarm clock for Saturday to 3:40 and Sunday to the 3:25 Italian timetable. I'm beginning to feel the vicinity of the red light. One... two... three... four... five red lights and goooooooooo, started. The rumble of the motors, the smoke of rubbers, first surpasses, haaaaaaaaaa but how much time is passed? It seems a life, or perhaps it it is? Sure without Michael it will not be the same thing but I do not see the hour to see "the strange brace" in action. Those two me do not count right, I'm sure that we have the more promising pilots of formula one, the young people of beautiful hopes that all envy to us. And then it does not remain me to remember you to fasten your sofà belt's and to hold to you strongly that we start.

That the contract was in the air, we knew for quite a while; that the signing would be presented with numerous logos and a new livery was an interesting surprise: Obviously I’m talking about the highly anticipated contract between the Yamaha of Valentino Rossi and Fiat, which will be, over the upcoming two seasons, the main sponsor of the M1s driven by Valentino and Colin Edwards. That a car manufacturer, as famous as Fiat, affiliates itself with one of the most potent manufacturers in the category international motorcycling, side by side with a certain Valentino Rossi, makes the whole thing really “explosive”. In fact I think that this is truly an incredibly important marketing concept: firstly, because it guarantees the brand Fiat huge media visibility of almost absolute value – I might even go as so far as to say unequalled in the world of sports – and secondly, because in this way the manufacturer from Turin assures itself the use of Valentino’s image, which will enable the brand to penetrate also this young target, which for Fiat is more and more important. Sure, the majority among you knows that I would have preferred an Italian trio – motorbike, sponsor and driver – but at the moment I’ll settle for this, while I wait for the season to kick off next Saturday; and let the race track decide who is the best one of the field. Let me assure you that we will see some massive spectacles, while we always hope that one of our fellow-countrymen in our home colours will win, although I am quite limited as far as the colour is concerned, because my bias for red dictates the decision for me….. And you, are you ready to enjoy the races?

Un progetto importante, per uno scopo importante: il ricavo della vendita di questo CD sarà infatti devoluto a UNICEF.She's the red One è in vendita esclusivamente presso i Ferrari Store o sul sito FerrariStore.comThe Red House Blues Band members are all Ferrari employees and they've now set their passion for the Prancing Horse to music with an entire album of love songs dedicated to the sleek automotive lovelies of Maranello. The CD is made up of two original tracks and ten covers of songs previously released by existing or former Prancing Horse clients. A major achievement and one with a worthy goal too as all proceeds from the sale of the CD will go directly to UNICEF. She's the Red One is available exclusively from the Ferrari Stores and online at FerrariStore.com.

The first steps of a child are always one what much special one, here here our last born that ago its first steps. All we waited for with anxiety this moment. That emotion. To give a precise adjective that defines it with an only word to the F2007 is not easy. Everyone of we is trying only emotions. A red rich of passion. A team loads with emotions. The fans with the swollen eyes of tears for the joy of the faces of the new team but also with the heart towards the man who has given a lot to us in these years. With the image of Felipe, Kimi and Michael we can enclose all which today represents the Ferrari. One unique , strong , determined team. Now only two things lack to us: Kimi in track and the beginning of the championship.

----------------------------------------------Today on the web there are some sites that say that the launch of the new Ferrari F1 will be on next Sunday, 14th January and the first test will be the day after, at Fiorano, with Felipe Massa. They say that it will not be a really launch, but a sort of preview. Now, I don't know if this news is right, but I am sure of a thing: I CANT WAIT!!P.S.If you need of onlookers for the launch, we are ready!!!

You allow me to receive itself in what it is the Ferrari stand to the Motor Show of Bologna and give the welcome to you. Yesterday I have visited the hall of the automobile of Bologna. To my arrival first of all I have gone to area 33 pavilion 21, where I have found the kindest girls of the Scuderia Ferrari Club to receiving me and to stamp my passport. Then I have gone to pavilion 19 to the Ferrari stand where, showing my passport, they have been warmly received inside. That to say, it is simply fantastic! I do not know if the photos render the idea but the acclimatization has left me open mouth. It seemed of being in the drawing-room of own house, pictures to the walls, ignited fireplace, books, leader sofà. Beautiful, but still beautiful they were the Ferrari. The honor place occupied it one blazing 599 GTB to which I have not known to say not. They are salted the guide and thanks to the responsible of the stand I have had also the pleasure to ignite the dashboard. I assure to you that I did not want more to outside exit some. Then they are dedicated to me to the F430 exposed also in cabriolet version and Challenge, the 612 Scaglietti and F-2003 GA of Michael. Exchanged two pleasant words with the staff of the stand and refresh me to the refreshment offered to the hosts, are brought to me then from the neighbours of the Maserati where the MC12 Corsa it made extension beautiful; simply monstrous.

E' arrivato l'inverno / Winter has arrived

After three weeks of abstinence from Gp and after two from the Finali of Monza I can just say that the winter has arrived. The season is shown longer of the previewed one since from the last news in my possession, we will not see test before 5 December in Jerez where it will be just the Ferrari to giving the way to the dances. It grows sure wants from part of all in order to see Kimi dressed of red, even if until end of December she is still McLaren pilot, and it grows sure wants to see the new beguinners as they will be behaved with the F1. We do not forget then that the new season previews multiple changes of livery between the several team and therefore it does not remain to us then to wait for the official presentations of the new cars. I say Hello warmly to all the new participants in blog and the all those that were present to Monza that now finally knows me, remembering to you that we that we were there always we will be joined them from a wonderful memory of a special day. In sight of the next MotorShow of Bologna that will be kept from the 7 to the 14 December I had thought with Max and others of we, to make a little gathering not-official Sunday 10 Decembers, therefore I am useful for the wide advance time so as to give the how much possibility to more possible than to organize itself and to feel how many they would be disposed to come in order to meet us to the Ferrari stand.

So now we know. Michael`s retired. Ross is off & Paolo has moved to Fiat. Rory is consulting & JT, though still carrying the whip, has moved from postillion to the chaise.   We have to be realistic …… all good things must come to an end.  Don`t misunderstand me, I have every confidence in those that will take over & look forward to celebrating many, many more wins under their “watch”. Yet, however we look at it, the parting of the Dream Team marks the passing of a Golden Era. We have had the enormous good fortune to be part of the Ferrari family during their years at the helm. After so many years in the wilderness their success was all the sweeter.   Will F1 ever see their like again? I doubt it, for one reason. As another Y&F old-timer (oh boy, am I going to be in trouble now!) has pointed out to me, there have been Dynamic Duos (e.g. Stewart & Tyrrell; Clark & Chapman) but never such a large group, a Dream Team consisting of so many brilliant individuals.   So, the Stables` race winners have elected to make way for new blood. We wish they could go on forever but we know they really deserve time to enjoy the fruits of their labours & they haven`t exactly been put out to stud just yet!   To the successors – You are the future. Good luck & keep up the great work. We will be supporting you all the way.    How do you bloggers feel? While I look to the future with optimism I also value the past. Jean Todt, Ross Brawn, Rory Byrne, Paolo Martinelli, Michael Schumacher – my thanks to you all.  Together you have made history.

Thoughts after Brazil and Season Conclusion

Comment· Link to this post

Well, thats all! Another season is over, one that i must admit was VERY stressful to me! Concerning the race, i must say i really enjoyed it! I think Michael did one of the best races ever despite the blown tyre. The irony is that if this hadnt happen, we would most probably have a 1-2 and therefore the constructor's champ. However, as we all know, ifs dont fit into F1! Therefore, i think the day belongs to Massa who in his first season with Ferrari, took 2 well deserved wins, the 2nd with an AMAZING pace which is a great promise for next year! But being good people, we must also congratulate Alonso and Renault for taking the championships. I dont really think they deserved it as basically i think we lost it rather than them winning it so in my heart the champions are others. The result is written in history though so we must accept it. At this point, i must admit that i felt very privilleged living Michael's era, watching his races and his championships. I dont know if he s the best driver of all time but he definately is the most complete! He indeed had some bad moments on his career but every single champion has moments like that. Personally, i ll remember him as the best sportsman and after '99 as one of the paddock's best guys! Always next to his team, always congratulating his rivals and always with a smile that i ll personally miss! Another thing i ll miss is his unique speed, physical condition, ability to analyse the race situation and so many other things. I certainly hope i ll see him next year in the paddock! For the future, we have 2 great drivers that i really like and believe they ll make us proud. I really dont think it ll be the same without Michael, however, i have some feeling that i ll live another Michael-like era with Vettel in a Ferrari! As some of you may know, Vettel is Michael's protege so there s a big possibilty he s taken after him! So, completely different setting next season and i m already looking forward to it! Congratulations again to the champions... Have a good winter!PS: Some may recognize the post from the forum  but i really couldnt say things any better or different!

Tutti a Interlagos / All to interlagos

October 16, 2006 · Posted by staffFerrari
Comment· Link to this post

FACCI SOGNARE !    I confess you that write something on this Gp it is not easy. Because it is not simply the Interlagos Gp . Is the last contest of the season, is the last contest in order to gain the team championship, is the last contest in order to gain the pilots championship , but the thing that I feel more is the being the last contest of Michael. Sunday a chapter of the history of the formula and the history of the Ferrari will come closed. The final result will be only that we will see to run Schumi for the last time. It will miss to me, a lot, it missing to me already now only thinking it. Is true he will return as Ferrari man but will not be the same thing. How we will make to watch  inside the car and not to notice more its helmet? It has made more than all, it has given more than all. We all for this love it and we thanks it in eternal. You Are My SunshineMy only sunshine. You make me happy When skies are grey. You'll never know, dear, How much I love you. Please don't take my sunshine away. Yes beloved Michael you are my sunshine and Sunday I want that you dye of Rosso Ferrari the Japanese red sun. Boys from today one begins the most short championship of formula one, only two race,  three weeks in all. Pure adrenalin. How many other emotions will reserve us this  week-end ? But been also sure that our Michael of it has ready many and then you remain seated on your seats and fasten belts…we gooooooooo !   ps La seconda foto ve la devo mettere è troppo bello il concetto ( ho pianto appena l’ho vista) / The second photo I must put is too beautiful the meaning ( I cry when I sow It )

"Ciao sono a Capri, tempo stupendo, mi raggiungi ? FORZA MICHAEL ! FORZA FELIPE ! FORZA RAGAZZI ! " Hi I'm in Capri, fantastic weather, Can you reach me ?"It recited an old spot on tv  while the person to the telephone was under one strongest rain. Festa per Michael / Party for Michael

Grazie, Francesco   Dear President Montezemolo, from always I would have intentional to write them a letter, because from always She and our Michael represented for me two only and important persons in my life. I would have intentional to write in order to make them many compliments, to ask of the Ferrari, to speak about of me, in practically to make some words like is made with a friend. My greater desire always has been that one of meet and today they are here to write instead in order only asking them a favour, a great favour. It would appeal to me to organize, or in order better to say promoter for a party. One Party of goodbye and arrivederci to our Michael. Task that all we of the FWC  deserve it and above all He if it deserves it. That the idea, too crazy, is only fruit of the immense love of tifosi we for the Ferrari and Michael. It can help us to realize this dream?   Thanks, Francesco

Here we are at five days from the Sunday more important than always. Stealing the blog to Max I invite to leave here the last news in order then to find again us saturday to discuss always here on as it will be the pole.   I remember to all that the "Bets" still are opened, for who still does not know it has decided that some of we will make of the madnesses in case of victory of the pilots title and constructors, if someone in the meantime had decided or wanted to join...   Ciao, Francesco

There isn`t a lot to spare. Who cares? Whatever we`ve got we share!

There isn`t a lot to spare….  Economy. Rule change after rule change was meant to have been a cost-cutter but seems to only have added to the bills. Anyone here surprised?   Who cares? Whatever we`ve got we share!.......   Being the teachers` pet that I am, I completed the FIA survey. However, all the time I was answering the questions I got the distinct feeling that, like a rat in a laboratory maze, I was being manoeuvred towards the trap in the centre.   As to the Maranello/ Monaco/ Indianapolis “agreements” on the engine freeze – they lost me long ago. If you haven`t read the FIA press release “Engine Supply in Formula One” dated 16.07.2006, take a minute to do so. The phrase “Handbags at dawn” springs to mind.   I`m not a fan of standardisation which seems to be the way the FIA wants to go but then, being a dyed-in-the-wool member of the “Pinnacle of technical & technological excellence” club, I`m not likely to come up with ideas which may put that in jeopardy, am I? I have absolutely nothing against the “same make” series. Having identical cars doesn`t necessarily mean boring. I`ve heard the “It should all be about the driver” argument &, I`m sorry, I just don`t agree. This is F1!! It`s a team sport & includes the best minds as well as brilliant drivers. If we can`t give the brains full rein then the drivers may as well race against each other on identical video games. No, there has to be a better way…… but what? How can F1 become more economical whilst still remaining the pinnacle of motorsport & a viable spectator sport? Any ideas?

Consider yourself part of the furniture

From previous episodes of this blog, I know that most of us have at least some Ferrari memorabilia in our homes. I imagine these collections come in many shapes & forms. A visitor to the farmhouse doesn`t take long to realise this is not an entirely normal house. The broomstick in the entrance hall usually gets more than a sideways glance but that`s soon forgotten when they are confronted by the life-size Collie dog sitting at the bottom of the stairs. It`s quite entertaining to watch them jump before they realise Bouncer isn`t real. (Yes, I know, I`m wicked but what the heck?)   At the other end of farmhouse is the room that is home to my Ferrari things. I must be one of the few women to be the proud owner of a toddlers` replica team overall complete with upside logos. I know that, in the Far East, they write the “wrong” way round but I really didn`t expect Bridgestone to start with the “e”! As well as the Lego which I bought myself (yes, I put them together & am still wishing the fiddly little decals further), I have beautiful books, calendars, postcards & many other gifts from friends made here at Y&F. To spare blushes, I shan`t name them. They know who they are & I thank them once again. For those that have worried that I`m even weirder than you thought, The FerrariWitch is my nickname. The broomstick was here long before the start of Y&F but it has since been joined by a variety of “witchy” gifts. Hanging from the kitchen ceiling is a flying witch. I`ve never met the sender but we`re old friends here. Another (about 1 metre tall) stands guard outside my bedroom door – a gift from some visiting Y&F friends. I didn`t think to ask them whether they bought her in the UK or brought her with them (did she have her own seat on the plane or make her own way?) So now you know something of my Ferrari collection.   What Ferrari memorabilia do you have that you consider “part of the furniture”?

Ferrari Historic Challenge

Last weekend we had been at the Jim-Clark-Revival race in Hockenheim and naturally the Ferrari Historic Challenge was also there. Standing at the parc fermé a driver came with his about 4 year old daughter (having a dummy in her mouth) to take his car (250 GT b.p.l.) out. He placed the girl beside him, put his helmet onto her head and drove away. Beside us a young boy (about 7 or 8 years old) asked his father: “Papa, can I have also a ride in such a car?”  The father answered: “I doubt that!” I turned towards them and said: “Maybe you can sit in a car, Ferrari drivers are very nice people – especially towards kids! Go to their tent and ask!” I was talking about my own experiences with Ferrari drivers and Ferrari can be proud of the hospitality and kindness of the owners – they have really a special attitude towards admirers.

Consider yourself well in

We`re well enough in to this blog to have learned a bit about each other but I`d like to know even more.Ferrari brings us all together & photo #1 is of the first Y&F baby. Alix & Sarah`s little Samuel.Seems he has all the charm of his Mum & cheek of his Dad!  Just for once on this blog, no talk of Ferrari or F1 – let`s talk of us. To get the ball rolling, I`ll tell you a little about where I live. Our parish (on the coast of one of the UK`s National Parks) is just over 1570 acres in size.In 1821 the population hit a high of 130. It`s down to about 40 now. Sheep probably outnumber humans 100-1 so there are plenty to count – should be no trouble getting to sleep here. Unless, that is, it`s April – lambing.April is renowned as the month we all stop talking to our neighbours ….. self-preservation. If you`ve been up most of the night checking four-legged mothers-to-be that have an amazing habit of going belly-up at the slightest opportunity then you probably wouldn`t be at your most sociable either. It brings a whole new meaning to the old saying “Ne`er cast a clout till May be out”. Luckily we don`t have sheep ourselves but we don`t want to be on the wrong end of the clout – so we keep our heads down with the rest & wait for the all clear. A traveller passing through in 1832 wrote "This sequestered village, reached by rugged & precipitous roads, not to be traversed except on horse, donkey or on foot, and not without a guide, while the thinly scattered and wild looking population suggest the idea of a foreign country - when gained the place seems to be seated in the wildest solitude."Not changed much then – particularly the odd looking population.Sounds like it scared him but then, until 5 years before, this was the haunt of a centuries old smuggling band (I`ll tell you about it sometime, but not today) & strangers were, understandably, looked on with suspicion. Living here is not to everyones` taste – too isolated for some – although we`re only half an hour or so drive from most of the action. If, like us, you love natural beauty & tranquility, it`s hard to beat, though. They say you need to have lived here for 30 years or 3 generations to become a true local. Next year will be our 20th year so, while still not true locals, we have been told we can consider ourselves well in. Do you live in the countryside, a town, a city or by the coast & what is it like there?

Room 504/Zimmer 504

At first I would like to thank staff for the opportunity to create my own blog. I will dedicate my blog to the streetcars and share my passion for historic cars with you. I cannot post regularly - I have a job *sigh*, but I am confident that you will like it.What about the title many of you may ask? Every time we are in Maranello we try to get room 504 in Planet Hotel - because someone told us years ago that this is the room where Rubens normally slept - and I am - still - a fan of Rubinho. You may have read also about the meeting of community members for the last GP of the year in Maranello and the "legendary balcony party" in the forum. And to give you a slight hint I added a picture from our meeting in 2003. Everyone is welcome for this meeting because it is one thing that unites us all: FERRARI! So the title is a sign for our friendship with all "tifosi"!And now in my own language, maybe some Germans will write something too (they are so quiet) Zuerst möchte ich dem "staff" danken, meinen eigenen "blog" zu schreiben.

Faith, Hope, Instinct And Reason!

Comment· Link to this post

Hi all!The weekend at Melbourne was one that we would want to forget. However,  I'm sure Ferrari have memories of that weekend lurking in their minds, so that they know they must improve and we, as fans,  need to remember Melbourne so we can look back at it years from now and recollect how Ferrari made a come-back.That is Hope. Hope that arises out of Faith. A Faith that we have in Ferrari and what it has meant to us all these years. A Faith that we've put in Michael Schumacher, in Ross Brawn, in Jean Todt and every single person that contributes to what Ferrari is today. Faith in the entire process that is in place.Instinct leads me to believe that in Imola, things will change. I have been wrong about Malaysia and about Australia, but I still believe come Europe, things will be better for us. How much better? That remains to be seen. Facts may not endorse that hope as the last couple of races haven't gone the way we hoped. Our flexing wings have been removed and the tyre situation doesnt seem to be that good atleast for us. However, what we believe, our hope and our instincts are sometimes a little more powerful than reason. And that's the best thing about life. So lets hold on to that hope and lets have the belief that Ferrari will strike back, will climb that mountain and reach the top! Thanks for reading,ciao,-Dilip.

Thoughts after Australia

April 2, 2006 · Posted by staffFerrari
Comment· Link to this post

As promised on my 1st blog, here are my thoughts after the 3rd race of the season. The weekend didnt seem to start well at all! After the Practice sessions i was quite optimistic but the qualifying killed me! Maybe i m wrong but i believe that we play it safe on the 1st sessions of the quali in order to save the car etc. If thats the case, we all saw that this is not right. First of all, Massa was very close to being left out on the 1st session! Then, on the 2nd, i think Michael wasnt pushing enough from the begining. For sure the car was not fast but i believe that if he left the garage from the 1st second he would have done a satisfying time as he would be able to run for several laps before the rain came. Overall, after Saturday, i really think we should push on the quali, do a good time and then pit. We dont have to wait for the last minute.Going to the race, i was hoping for a smart strategy and 10th place wasnt bad overall as i new that Michael would be able to climb up. Massa was in a much worse position but again i had a belief that he would be able to climb up. Fisi starting last gave me one more hope as Michael's 10th became 9th and Massa's 15th, 14th. After the race started, it was obvious Michael was not fast (thats where i hoped that we are on a 1stop strategy) but it seemed that the tyres couldnt go up to temp because of the safety cars (as Michael said). After the 1st stops, Michael was on a great position (5-6?) and i could see he could come even up to 3rd! The chase to button was very encouraging up until the terrible point where he crashed out. To be honest with you, i couldnt believe Michael was able to do something like that. He is 7 times world champion and i m sure he can know the limits of the car. That shunt was like seing a rookie driving a Ferrari. He did good to push and i was very happy seeing that as i ve missed it but push the car to its limits. Not beyond them. Anyway, i m sure he is disappointed even more than i am and he wants to win more than any of us do. There is not much to say about Massa's race since it was very short unfortunately. So, until the next gp, i hope we test as much as possible, doing as many kms as possible and as many racing distances as possible! I really hope the upgrated car will be a winner! If not, this year seems to be pretty difficult!See you in 3 weeks!

Scuderia Ferrari/Formula One in Your Country

Tifosi,     First of all, I have to appologize for taking so long to write my new blog.  I'm currently switching jobs and moving at the same time.  The delay, in no way represents my excitement for being chosen as an "official blogger."  I was ecstatic the day I received the email congratulating me on becoming an "official blogger."  I would like to take this opportunity to thank the You & Ferrari Staff for choosing my topic, I couldn't be more excited.    My name is Mark, 24 yrs. old, and I'm from the USA.  I've been a Tifosi for over 10 years now, but I have to be honest and say that I've only watched Formula One for the last 5 years or so.  Unfortunately, Formula One isn't very popular in the states, as I'm sure most of you know, and I was very late to discover it.  I don't even want to mention it, but Nascar has swallowed up our nation's race fans, to my dismay.  I don't know about all of you, but watching 20+ American cars driving 500 laps around a "cirlce track" isn't my idea of racing.  No disrespect to American racing, of course.  Anyway, the excitement of Formula One is unmatchable and I wish it would catch on here in the USA.  In the States, Speed Vision televises all of the races and there isn't any other source of Formula One programming, analyzation, etc.  Not to say Speed TV doesn't do a great job, cause they do, but I would love to watch the other F1 shows that some of you have mentioned in your blogs.  Our biggest disadvantage in the USA, amongst other things, is that we never get to experience a Formula One weekend as you all do in Europe and the UK.  Which brings me to my topic.  I want to hear how a Formula One weekend is in your particular country.  The passion, excitement, TV coverage, Scuderia Ferrari popularity, and every other aspect that goes along with an F1 GP weekend in your country, town, region, etc.  I always envy all of you outside of the US, because I know F1 is very, very popular overseas, as I've obviously seen over the years.  With all of your comments, I want to be able to visualize an F1 GP weekend in your country!!  Make your comments detailed, paint me a picture of the GP weekend!!  Thank you all very, very much for your time.  Till next time...FORZA FERRARI!!!PS. I want to hear from the staff too!!!Ciao,MarkPennsylvania, USA

Thoughts after the 1st 2 races

Hello everyone!I am Vassilis from Greece and the purpose of my blog is to express my opinion about Ferrari's performance in the races, errors etc as objectively as possible! So, the 1st race was in Bahrain! I was very happy with our performance there! I was a bit sad about Felipe's spin but i m sure he ll become more experienced as races pass. Generally, his performance was very impressive!Going to the 2nd race, i must admit my feelings were quite different. First of all, i never expected us to have reliability problems. This disappointed me a bit but what gave me hope was the though of a smart strategy! Going to the race however, i must say that Michael's strategy didnt seem that smart. Massa's one was amazing but i believe Michael should also be on 1 pit stop. I ve really missed Mr. Brawn's amazing strategies that gave us wins some years ago. The last one i can remember is 2002 Magny Cours. I certainly dont believe Mr. Brawn has forgot to think of winning strategies. So, personally i m expecting a bit more from that sector.Performance-wise i was very happy! We really seem to have the speed and this is very encouraging.  Both drivers also did a great race! It seems that our reliability problems will get solved before Australia (if not already) and this is even more encouraging! To close my 1st post, i really hope that 2 things will happen! First, our wings to prove to be legal (and if not, to be altered) and second, to see our team risk and push! I really believe that if we risk we ll have more chances to get the championship!I would like to thank the Y&F Staff for giving me this opportunity!See you all at the next race ;)Vassilis Alexiadis

Consider yourself one of the family

Wow, thanks for all your replies & kind compliments! I really enjoyed learning what sort of TV coverage you get (totally envious of RTL) & also I loved finding out what you all get up to behind closed doors.I have a sneaky suspicion some of us are more superstitious than we like to admit. The photo is of a little wooden plaque that hangs on the wall in the farmhouse kitchen. On the apron it says “If it`s not one thing, it`s your mother!”I am that mother. Not that I`m the short, sweet, apple-pie baking, grey-haired maternal type – I have my moments but, no. As matriarchs go I`m more the Lily Munster/ Morticia Addams sort.I am also the mother that put the Bridget Jones “You have no messages, none whatsoever, not one - not even from your mother” on my sons` voicemail - just to keep him on his toes! Well, he can forget to call me once in a while but does he really expect me not to notice?Yes, I have to admit it, in the GP for embarrassing parents I`d run JB`s paternal shadow a very close 2nd. "You can choose your friends but not your family” as the saying goes. Have you any examples of embarrassing (but printable) parent stories out there? March 26th is Mothering Sunday. For some of us at least, that means Mothers Day. You have hereby been reminded! I bet, like me, you`ve often been asked why you support Ferrari? I go through all the obvious reasons – the history, the excellence, the passion……"But it`s a just a team – like any other.”(Shock, horror) “No, it`s not! It`s a …. well, it`s a family.”“Oh, yea? Why?“Urm…...” Now, those that know me will tell you being lost for words is not a condition I usually suffer from.Family. It`s a term we always use about Ferrari but have you ever tried explaining why? It`s not easy!We share a love & passion for the red cars but, I`m sure, others feel the same way about their own chosen teams. We support them through good times & bad, as family should but, again, that sort of loyalty isn`t reserved solely for the Prancing Horse, is it?No, there`s just something which makes Ferrari different, that much more special, something which really does make it a family - & a family we have chosen to be part of… but what? Tell me what you think it is &, maybe, the next time I`m asked “Why is Ferrari a family while the others are just teams?” I`ll have an answer I can actually put into words….. your words!
