First impressions are positive

I arrived in Seoul last night and this morning I set off for Yeongam, the venue for the first ever Korean Grand Prix. After lunch I popped up to the circuit because I wanted to see for myself what the track was like. I have to say the first impressions are positive. First off, there are no big surprises as what we saw on the simulator over the past weeks and the reality of it have a lot in common. It seems to be a very interesting circuit, which should be fun to drive, especially the final sector. What track is it similar to? It’s a mix of various ones. The first sector reminds me a lot of Bahrain: long straights with heavy braking that lead into 180 degree turns. The second is similar to Turkey, especially Turn 11 which makes you think of Turn 8 in Istanbul, while the final one is similar to the third sector in Abu Dhabi.

When you arrive at a new circuit, you are even keener than usual to get on with the driving, so the two days that still separate us from the time to do the first lap on Friday morning will seem very long. I think we could be in for a spectacular race: there are at least a couple of places were overtaking seems possible, especially under braking for Turn 3 which comes at the end of a straight that is over a kilometre in length. There should be plenty of action there on the opening lap of the race, more than we will see at the start.

Yesterday night I managed to watch Real Madrid play in the Champions League and I was pleased with what I saw as 2-0 against Milan is a really good result.

Hola Ferito … and so your globetrotting journey continues … from one old flame to pastures new in Korea … from simulator to the ‘real thing’ … a tryst with the young, novel, nubile and freshly-laid tarmac of the Korean circuit and the anticipation of those first tentative laps … she feels different … unusual … unique … her wide frame (in parts) conjures up the mouth-watering possibility of perhaps gliding past an adversary and giving your fans and the spectators a truly interesting and spectacular race!! Free practice … qualifying … and as you get to know her better your confidence soars … you accelerate faster … just a split second on every successive lap but with each your bond with her becomes stronger … she welcomes you with open arms … she murmurs ‘go faster Fernando … drive harder … thrill me … win me over’ … how can she resist your smooth flowing driving style … your trajectory … your swift and sweeping caresses … will she be another of your conquests … yet another notch on/at the winning post … of course she will because you’re the Casanova of Korea (ha! ha!). You know that I’m rooting for you 200% Ferito and I can assure you that there is nobody on this planet who could persuade me to get out of bed at the unearthly hour of 6am on a Sunday morning to wish them luck at the start of the race and urge them on throughout it … 3 … 2 … 1 … go for it mi carino … go for the win …mi campeon … de Linda x

Hola Ferito … Senor Casenova … Senor Championship Leader … well you did have your way with Miss Korea (ha! ha!) and you did manage to glide past two of your opponents in Korea because they both made mistakes … in contrast to your drive which was slick/smooth/streamlined and just ‘sublime’!!! Ohh I’m so proud of you Ferito and I’ve absolutely fallen in love with your gleeful laugh (which we all heard over your radio) … I don’t know which of us (you or I) was more euphoric and jumping with joy at the end result (yey oh yey!). I had been a little bit apprehensive when Mark and Sebastian nabbed the first row on Saturday … how was my Ferito going to get past them … the suspense was nail-biting and deep in my heart I knew that you had to (needed to) win this race … a tortuous circuit and the rain made it even more ‘unpredictable’ … but as I predicted dear heart someone ‘up there’ was smiling down on you and lady luck was definitely on your side … plus you are a consistent and consummate racing driver! Not much time again today but I just wanted to briefly convey my heartfelt and sincere congratulations … I’ve never … ever … nunca … been so excited and had my heart almost bursting through my chest whilst watching an Formula 1 race … you were just brilliant and you thoroughly deserve what’s coming … will write again soon! Warm regards … Linda x

Congrats Fernando!! I knew you were going to win the first race in Korea. You have that and no one can ever do it again, just like Singapore. You are truly amazing, and F1 would be nothing without you. You are simply the best and you deserve to win this title. I too fell in love with your laugh, and your smile melts my heart, I love to see you so happy. I can't wait to see how happy you are when you win the WDC!!!!
