"The most beautiful road race in the world." This was the Mille Miglia for Enzo Ferrari. Times and things change, because the endurance race - held for the last time in 1957 - today is a rememberence race.
After the exceptional success of the previous editions, this May the Ferrari Tribute to 1000 Miglia will be held for the fourth time. The event, an authentic race, held a couple of minutes before the famous Mille Miglia passes, includes 130 Ferraris built from 1958 until today. Those built before that year can participate in the Mille Miglia, where only cars built until its last edition in 1957 are allowed. The 130 Ferraris will open the roads for the historical cars participating in the famous Mille Miglia. The race starts on Thursday, 16 May 2013 in Desenzano in the direction of Verona, Padua and Ravenna on the first day.On Friday the participants will drive to San Marino, cross Umbria and reach Rome. The Italian capital will welcome the cars from the Tribute and from the Mille Miglia with a special show at the Sant’Angelo castle. On Saturday, the third and last day, the cars will drive on the exciting roads of the original Mille Miglia: on the via Cassia to Siena, with a checkpoint on the famous Palio square, to Florence on the Piazza della Signoria and then over the Futa and Raticosa passes.
