Japanese GP - Aerodynamic exercise under sunny Suzuka skies

Suzuka, 5 October – It’s McLaren on top at the start of the Suzuka weekend, for the fifteenth round of the Formula 1 World Championship. Free practice got underway this morning and Jenson Button was quickest in 1.34.507, followed by his team-mate Lewis Hamilton (1.34.740) ahead of Mark Webber who did a 1.34.856 in the Red Bull. Fastest Ferrari on the time sheet was Felipe Massa, seventh in 1.35.238, with the other F2012 of Fernando Alonso ending up eleventh in 1.35.484. The team concentrated on comparing different aerodynamic configurations to assess the small updates brought to the Japanese track. Both Ferrari men used just one set of Hard tyres each ahead of the second session which gets underway as usual at 14h00 local time.
