FDA – Bianchi wins at Paul Ricard and is back in the lead
Maranello, 30 September – Jules Bianchi’s pursuit of the top slot in the World Series 3.5 was given a boost today when he took a great win in the second race at Paul Ricard. This result, along with a fourth place in Race 1 sees the Frenchman leap to the top of the leaderboard, five points ahead of second placed Robin Frijns (Fortec Motorsports.)
Bianchi’s win also owed something to a spot-on strategy that saw him make the compulsory tyre change at just the right time, to move into the lead ahead of Portugal’s Felix da Costa, who pitted four laps later and was never able to catch up after that.
Another Ferrari youngster, Davide Rigon, finished thirteenth, driving in this event for the BVM Target team, showing some signs of brio over the weekend.
Bianchi now heads to Japan and Korea for the F1 back-to-back races, prior to the final round of the World Series, in three weeks time at the Barcelona circuit.
