A special day for Chinese driver Sun Zheng as he visits Ferrari
Maranello, 16 February – Sun Zheng, one of the drivers who distinguished himself with performances in the Chinese Formula Abarth series, experienced a special day in Maranello, visiting the Ferrari factory and the F1 Clienti Department, where the old Formula 1 cars that built the Scuderia’s history in the World Championship are maintained.
The Chinese youngster will take part in the motor sport promotional programme run by the Maranello company, following on from last year’s debut for the Asia-Pacific series of the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli. Other initiatives include the Ferrari Driver Academy’s support of the Formula Driver China, the Asian series which is a stepping stone to Formula 3 and GP3 for drivers moving up from karts or other junior formulae.
Today, Sun Zheng had a training session on the FDA simulator, supervised by the Academy’s chief, Luca Baldisserri, in preparation for tomorrow when he will have a test at the wheel of a Formula 3 car at the Adria circuit.
At the end of his day in Maranello, Zheng also got the chance to meet Giancarlo Fisichella, Gianmaria Bruni, Olivier Beretta and Andrea Bertolini, the Ferrari drivers competing in the GT series, who were all able to give him some advice for his future career.
