Support for the champions of the future
Madrid, 12 December –The future of Spanish motorsport gathered together today at the Ciudad Financiera del Banco Santander in Madrid for the third Beca Santander Jovenes Promesas and the prizegiving ceremony for the various categories of the Spanish Karting Championship.
There were twenty talented youngsters at the Gala de Campeones, including seventeen year old Moses Soriano from Valencia, who won a scholarship worth 30,000 Euro from the famous Spanish bank, aimed at helping with the difficult and costly transition from karts to single-seaters. Handing out the prizes were guest of honour Marc Gene, who is also a member of the jury and Enrique Garcia Candelas, Managing Director of the Banca Comercial Espana de Banco Santander, as well as Carlos Gracia, Presidente della Real Federación Espagnola de Automovilismo.
Gene, who works with Scuderia Ferrari on the development of its car, gave the youngsters the benefit of his experience in a short training course earlier in the day. Also on hand was Francesco Pon, the Technical head of the Ferrari Driver Academy, the Maranello marque’s initiative aimed at helping youngsters make progress in motor sport all over the world, with the eventual aim of getting them into Formula 1.
