Gaining the second row to start into the long and difficult Indian Grand Prix the best possible way. This objective we had set ourselves for today’s qualifying hasn’t been reached. Fernando and Felipe will start into tomorrow’s race from fifth and sixth position respectively.
It also has to be said that the Indian GP is not over yet. We do have a single-seater, which has always shown how competitive it can actually be in the race, even when it wasn’t that strong on the fast lap in the qualifying. There are also some other points, which can play an important role in this 17th race in the Championship. There’s the start, with the clear objective for our drivers to overtake the two McLarens (starting from second row) as soon as possible, while not losing sight of the Red Bulls (starting from first row). Regarding the strategy, there could be a surprise, considering that the tyre wear here on this track seems to be less than usual. Could one pit stop be enough? We’ll see tomorrow. What’s for sure is that it will be another interesting race, where we’ll try to gain as many points as possible to stay in the fight for the Title.
The novelties brought here to India enabled us to make some progress, but not enough to give our competitors the shivers. The level of competition is getting higher and higher in this stage of the season and the teams are accelerating development. But we’re not giving up: the entire Scuderia – on the track and at the Works – is giving it everything to prepare the fastest possible car for our drivers for this last stint of the season!
