Only a few days after the GP in Spa, where Massa, at the end of a great pursuit race, gained sixth place and Alonso was involved in a heavy accident at the first corner right after the start, we’re here in Monza. Now we’ve got the possibility to make up for last weekend, here at the second GP in a week. And the circuit and the place here in Monza are very special to the Scuderia Ferrari and to the fans. Racing here at the home GP is always something special.
Compared to last weekend’s variable weather conditions, here in Italy the weather is stable and the temperature is pleasant, which is an important factor. This enabled us to work with more consistency. Unfortunately the outcome on the track today wasn’t what we expected and our two drivers had quite different results: while Felipe confirmed his good performance from yesterday and gained a third position for tomorrow’s grid, Fernando had two difficult days with problems on his F2012. In the qualifying he couldn’t get beyond a tenth position on the grid for tomorrow’s race.
It’s true, it’s a pity, because on this fast track it’s pretty difficult to overtake. Although we’re convinced that we will have a good performance and we’ll give it our all to satisfy the Ferrari fans, who’ll be here on the grandstands in Monza!
