An important result

We knew that the sun and the (extremely) high temperatures of our summer wouldn’t accompany us to the race in Silverstone. And anyway, rain isn’t something that’s rare here in Silverstone. So the rain arrived and probably even more than expected. In the end there was so much water that the race director decided to suspend the second part of the qualifying for over an hour, because the track was unusable.
It was an intense qualifying with tense moments: when the red flag came out, about six minutes before the end of Q2, Fernando’s and Felipe’s times on the time sheet weren’t fast enough to proceed into Q3. At the restart our drivers kept their cool and drove the necessary times. Eventually, in Q3 Fernando drove an exceptional lap, thus gaining this season’s first pole position for the Scuderia, while Felipe will start from fifth position into tomorrow’s race.
This is an important result, but we all know that we have to stay concentrated: what happened shows that in such a balanced situation as we have it this season, things can easily change.
Tomorrow’s race will be uncertain, starting with the weather. And if it’s true that the starting positions didn’t mean much so far this season for the final result, then let’s hope that tomorrow is the exception to the rule.
