Pleased and proud of this start to the season

It’s been an incredible start to the season. Both in Bahrain and then again in Australia this weekend just gone, we showed we are competitive at the highest level and we can only be pleased and proud of what we have done so far, not just at the track, but also back at the factory over the winter. The F10 has proved to be very good, even on a semi-street circuit like Albert Park. It’s an easy car to drive, something I was aware of right from the very first test in Valencia and it is reasonably easy to find a good set-up for any type of track. On top of that, it is very consistent, in that its handling doesn’t change much between qualifying and the race. That should be a very important factor over the course of the year, as there is a world of difference between trying to do a quick time with a minimum fuel load on Saturday afternoon and starting the race with a full tank on Sunday. Add in the factor that the car is not too hard on its tyres – yesterday, both Felipe and I did 50 laps on the same set of soft tyres – and that completes the package. I’m not too sure exactly where we are compared to the others, but one thing’s for sure, we’ve definitely got off on the right foot.

I definitely didn’t think I’d be leading the championship after two races and this situation is way more than I had expected. In Melbourne, we made the most of a situation which, after the first corner, seemed to be compromised. We managed to increase our lead over those we reckon to be our main competition in the fight for the title. But there’s no time to relax, because in a few days time we will once again be on track for the Malaysian Grand Prix. The race is held on what is definitely one of my very favourite circuits: there are all sorts of corners and it’s a real joy to drive a Formula 1 car in Sepang, because you can really push it to the limit. I can’t wait to be racing in Malaysia for the first time at the wheel of a Ferrari. Our target? That’s easy, to carry on doing what we have done in the first two races. It won’t be easy, but we must trust in our ability to get the job done.

That's it Fernando! You were fantastic in Melbourne, showed all the great talent that is! To me, you already proved he's the best driver in recent years, the race was wonderful, the way you prevent the Hamilton passing has been incredible, just a great driver know how to drive so balanced! It was phenomenal, beyond the missed only Felipe Massa, would love to see him on the podium! I'm sure the tri championship is closer than ever! I really want to see you here in Brazil at the end of the year and title favorite! Marta. Beijoooos.

I was very sad, when You spin on first corner. I thought, that it is all over. Fortunately the car remained OK and You was able to finish the race. You show impressive pace and it was very exciting to see You, when You was passing the other cars. You are the best driver in Formula 1. You have a best car in Formula 1 and You are in the best team - Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro. Lets hope, that You will able to win in Sepang. Keep it up! Best wishes from Estonia!

I really enjoyed the race and seeing you overtake so many drivers, I love watching how you take the car to the limit and get the best out of it. I'm Spanish and have been following F1 for several years now. Missed the first race in Bahrein as I was travelling to Italy that day, but I was able to go to the Ferrari store in Rome!!!

Cogratulations Nando, you were simply great in Australia,i dont want to think what would happen if you didn't have that spin on the start of the race...You and whole Ferrari team made an excelent job, especialy with the one stop strategy...I cant not to metion:Excelent braking in front of the Hamilton & Webber, next time they will reconsider should they try to overtake you :-P That was the best part of the race, and again congratulations. My best wishes for Malaysia. Greetings from Montenegro.

Hi Fernendo,I also think that Ferrari did a great job on sunday afternoon in Albert park. And you did an amazing job to hold your position when you were under pressure from Hamilton. And the late braking manoeuvre you pulled off was unmatchable. You as well as Stefano said you are stretching lead over your main competetors. But Mclaren gained 6 points on you.Are you underestimating Mclaren?I don't think it's ever intelligent to underestimate any of your competitors,no matter how weak they are.You know they can cause you a lot in the most unthinkable way. They may not be able to beat you on pure performance but they can easily ruin one of your days. So,we should go forward with the fullest spirit and swear to fight till the last moment. If we can keep up the excellence we showed in Bahrain and Australia,we can clinch both the titles if bad luck doesn't hinder our march.Forza Ferrari.Forza Fernendo.Forza Felipe.....Siamo con te.[SAEED]

I have just arrived in Barcelona and I can’t wait for the race weekend to start after what was quite a long break since the last Grand Prix. The most important part of this break of three weeks between Bahrain and the Spanish Grand Prix was obviously the test in Mugello. It was good to make use of this extra time, although I am not sure quite how useful it was. Don’t get me wrong, it’s always useful to test, but in order to run at Mugello, we “lost” one test before the start of ... Read all »
