That was the experience enjoyed by those taking part in last week’s twenty second edition of the Tour Auto Optic 2000, from 23 to 27 April. The most fortunate of them? Definitely the 32 crews that tackled the event at the wheel of some of the most amazing Ferraris from the Sixties and Seventies, such as the 275 GTB, the 250 GT Tour de France, the 365 GTB/4 Competizione and the Group IV 308. There was a sea of photographers and cameramen in front of the Ferrari stand, right from the opening of the show, waiting for the moment when Amedeo Felisa, the Maranello company’s Managing Director, unveiled the new special limited edition car for the first time in Asia. “China is strategically very important for us and we will continue to invest in this market,” stated Felisa in his speech. “As of today, we already have 25 dealerships and we want to get up to 30 in 2013, before adding a further five the following year.” After a great performance in Greater China (People’s Chinese Republic, Hong Kong and Taiwan) in 2012, when it became the second market in the world for the Prancing Horse with around 800 cars sold, the results in the first quarter of this year have also been positive. The Maranello MD placed particular emphasis on the extensive work carried out by Ferrari on reducing consumption and emissions of its range of cars, which has been reduced by 40% in the past five years, along with an increase in power of around 100 hp. The fact that much attention is being paid to environmental themes in this vast country is underlined by Ferrari’s involvement in the “One Million Trees” project: no less than 67,000 trees have been planted by the company in a desert area of China to compensate for the emissions of its cars that drove on Chinese roads last year. Currently in the factory’s workshop are no fewer than five of the 36 250 GTOs built between 1962 and 1964, a model which has attained record prices at private treaty sales. They are just some of the 24 historically significant and valuable classic Ferraris cars now gathered under one roof in the recently renovated Classiche department. Along with the 250 GTOs are two 250 Testa Rossas, including the 1957 car that Phil Hill drove to victory at the 1958 24 Hours of Le Mans, as well as three of just 32 250 LMs produced. The F12berlinetta is the most powerful and high-performance road-going Ferrari ever. Sporting a new V12 engine, it is built around highly evolved transaxle architecture and features state-of-the-art components and control systems. The F12berlinetta’s aerodynamics have also been honed to the extreme in an innovative design that redefines classic Ferrari themes. The F12berlinetta’s wheelbase is shorter and its engine, dashboard and seats are lower in the chassis. A new suspension and gearbox layout helped reduce the car’s rear volume. The result is a shorter, lower and narrower car than the previous V12 coupé. The F12berlinetta boasts ideal weight distribution (54% over the rear axle) as well as a lower centre of gravity that is further back in the chassis. The F12berlinetta’s spaceframe chassis and bodyshell are completely new, and now incorporate no less than 12 different aluminium alloys, some of which have been used for the first time in the automotive sector. New assembly and joining technologies were also adopted in its construction. This has allowed the car’s overall weight to be kept to just 1,525 kg and has maximised its performance efficiency with torsional rigidity boosted by 20 per cent. The new, 200-bar direct-injection 6,262cc 65° V12 engine delivers unprecedented performance for a naturally-aspirated 12-cylinder. It punches out a maximum of 740 CV at 8,250 rpm, with a specific power output of 118 CV/l and maximum revs of 8,700 rpm, record figures for this type of engine. Responsiveness and strong pick-up is guaranteed by maximum torque of 690 Nm, 80 per cent of which is readily available at 2,500 rpm. Exceptional progress has also been made in terms of fuel consumption and emissions which have been cut by 30 per cent - putting the F12berlinetta at the top of the segment with 15/l 100 km and 350 g/km of CO2 respectively. Aerodynamics play a major role, and a host of innovative solutions have been discreetly integrated in the F12berlinetta’s styling. These include the Aero Bridge which, in a first, uses the bonnet to generate downforce, and Active Brake Cooling, a system that opens guide vanes to the brake cooling ducts only at high operating temperatures. The result of these interventions is that the F12berlinetta has the highest overall aerodynamic efficiency of any Ferrari ever built (a value of 1.2, double that of the 599 GTB Fiorano) with downforce of 123 kg at 200 km/h and a Cd of just 0.299. The fruit of the collaboration between the Ferrari Styling Centre and Pininfarina, the F12berlinetta features harmonious and balanced proportions. It is a truly original, innovative coupé with all of the signature features of an authentic Ferrari 12-cylinder. Clothed in sleek, aggressive lines, it offers superb occupant space and comfort despite its relatively compact dimensions. The rear is characterised by a modern, functional reinterpretation of the Kamm tail which seamlessly integrates the two vertical fences of the rear diffuser. The resulting, original T-shape also incorporates two full-LED circular tail-lights and the clearly F1-inspired rear fog light. The F12berlinetta’s technical specifications are completed by the very latest version of the carbon-ceramic braking system (CCM3), a further evolution of the magnetorheological suspension (SCM-E) and the latest development in electronic vehicle control systems (E-diff, ESC, F1-Trac, and high-performance ABS). All controls are integrated in a single, fast-responding CPU featuring new model-specific software. With a Fiorano lap time of just 1’23’’, 0-100 km/h acceleration in 3.1 seconds and 0-200 km/h in 8.5 s, the F12berlinetta is the most high-performance road car in Ferrari history. Important innovations have led to reductions in the weight of our cars, too. In fact, the Scaglietti facility, which specialises in aluminium fabrication, works with more than 25 different alloys, some of which are being used for the first time in the automotive sector. While power has been boosted by approximately 100 hp across the model range, fuel consumption and emissions have been reduced by 30 per cent compared to four years ago thanks to work done not only on our engines and structural components, but also on aerodynamics, tyres and vehicle sub-systems. Ferrari continues to invest heavily in innovation and is planning to launch the first hybrid model in its history in the near future. Having already revealed the power unit’s architecture and components, Ferrari has chosen Paris to debut the new composite chassis derived directly from Formula 1 technologies. Ferrari drew on its vast experience in working with composites for single-seaters for its new hybrid model which will be produced in a limited-edition, special series. For this model Ferrari chose not to use the industrial carbon-fibre manufacturing techniques, such as RTM (Resin Transfer Moulding), normally adopted in the automotive sector, as they did not meet the quality and functional standards Ferrari set itself. The materials, design methodologies, construction processes, staff and instruments used are all shared with the Scuderia Ferrari, with the formation of a working group which relied on an important contribution from Rory Byrne, Ferrari’s F1 chief designer who was behind 11 of the team’s Championship titles. The chassis uses four different types of carbon-fibre and is hand-laminated then cured in autoclaves following engineering processes which optimise the design by integrating the different components. The main structure is made from T800 carbon with local, strategic applications of T800UD, a unidirectional carbon-fibre tape, for reinforcement. To ensure weight was kept to an absolute minimum, the structural underbody and the cross-member are made from another type of particularly high tensile strength carbon-fibre known as M46J. In certain critical areas, such as the doors, very tough T1000 was adopted as it is particularly efficient in terms of impact absorption which is why it is used in the nose-cone of the single-seaters. Carbon-fibre is combined with Kevlar® for the undertray to prevent damage from debris thrown up from the road. The overall chassis is 20 per cent lighter than the Enzo Ferrari, despite the extra weight required by housing the hybrid components and to meet regulatory obligations. Felipe Massa was the guest of honour, leading the parade at the wheel of a 458 Spider. “It was a really unforgettable experience,” commented the Scuderia Ferrari race driver, against a backdrop of the 800 cars. It’s a great honour for me to be here for such a special event, with so many cars all brought together on one race track, which produced an unprecedented spectacle for all Prancing Horse fans.” It was a truly memorable scene with over 900 Ferraris from all over the UK and further afield at Silverstone circuit as part of the Ferrari Racing Days. They will drive on the roads of the Mille Miglia and on the Savio circuit, but also on the tracks where Ferrari has raced and won several times, such as Imola and Mugello as well as Fiorano, where the cars from the Prancing Horse are developed. The Ferrari Cavalcade will start in Bologna in the direction of Imola and the "Dino e Enzo Ferrari" race track at the Santerno river, where the participants will carry out ability tests for the regularity race. The first day will be dedicated to the roads of the plain in Emilia-Romagna: Lugo, home of the Baracca family, where the Prancing Horse will be celebrated, along the roads of the river Po delta to visit the Pomposa Abbey, coming back via Ferrara degli Estensi on wonderful roads through the so called Pianura Padana. Friday will be dedicated to the area around Modena and the places connected to Ferrari with a visit in Maranello and laps on the Fiorano track. The final stage of the 600 kilometres will lead to Bologna on the roads of the Mille Miglia with the legendary Futa and Raticosa passes. The list of the participants' countries underlines the internationality of the Ferrari brand: USA, China, Lebanon, Honk Kong, UAE, Mexico, South Africa and naturally Europe with France Germany, Belgium, the UK and Russia, just to name a few. The Cavalcade event is a way to introduce the clients of the Prancing Horse to the wonderful landscape, the artistic wonders and the exceptional cuisine of Italy. Also making its debut was the new lighter and more powerful Ferrari California 30. The front-mid mounted V8 now has 490hp, an addition of 30hp, with overall weight also being reduced by 30kg, which has been achieved through cutting-edge aluminium fabrication techniques and construction technologies. Alongside these two UK debuts was the Ferrari FF, the V12-powered four-seater flagship of the Ferrari range. This is Ferrari’s first vehicle to feature the innovative 4RM four-wheel drive system which allows up to 30% of the V12’s 660hp engine to be transferred to the front axle in low grip situations. All three cars will take to the track again tomorrow where Scuderia Ferrari driver, Marc Gené, will also put the 2009 Ferrari F60 single-seater through its paces up the famous 1.16 mile hillclimb course. There are also several fine examples of classic Ferraris from the 1950s, 60s and 70s on display at the Festival of Speed, including a very rare 250 MM from 1953, the ex-Carrera Panamerica car still running in its original livery. That significant sum will now be donated to help the families of the victims of the earthquakes that struck Emilia-Romagna on May 20th and 29th, many of whom died at their workplace. It took only the slightest encouragement for the Ferrari community to mobilise and bids were soon pouring in from all over the world. Naturally enough, expectations were running high for the 599XX which sold in the end to an American client for over 1.4 million euro. This exclusive car is a real one-off and will sport a special commemorative plaque signed by Chairman Luca di Montezemolo and the two Scuderia drivers. It will also be personally delivered to its owner by Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa at the next Italian Grand Prix at Monza. The F60 nose-cone is bound for the USA too, as it was purchased by a Malaysian client who put in a bid of 23,000 euro. The engine from the F2008, which won the Constructors’ World title in 2008, will instead be wending its way to Great Britain having made 80,000 euro, almost twice its reserve price. There was also an enthusiastic response to the rest of the auction with multiple bids made on all of the lots going under the hammer, including Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa’s helmets and Giancarlo Fisichella’s racing suit. "I knew I could count on the big-heartedness of the Ferraristi but they’ve still managed to surprise me once again,” declared Ferrari Chairman, Luca di Montezemolo. “I would like to thank all the clients, collectors and enthusiasts that did their bit. The first of these is the Stop & Start system sported by the Ferrari California, an industry first on a high-performance sports car, while the second is the HY-KERS, a “vettura laboratorio” (experimental vehicle) which reveals to the public for the first time the hybrid solutions being developed by Maranello’s engineers. Introduced with effect from March for the Ferrari California, the Stop & Start System cuts both fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by 6 per cent in the ECE + EUDC combined cycle, emitting around just 280 g/km, an excellent value for a high performance naturally-aspirated sports car. The Stop & Start cuts in virtually instantaneously - just 230 milliseconds, a time so fast that the driver barely notices the engine restarting. This solution is a further step in Ferrari’s on-going strategy to reduce fuel consumption and emissions by working 360 degrees on all aspects of the cars. For example the Ferrari California’s direct-injection V8 boasts very low levels of friction. Purge valves in the crankcase counteract the differences in pressure below the pistons which normally increase losses. Other solutions also reduce friction, such as the DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) treatment of the valve followers and the highly polished cam lobes, an innovation that has now been adopted across the range. The other new arrival from Ferrari at the Swiss show is more future-focused and gives the public its first glimpse of the HY-KERS vettura laboratorio which can reduce CO2 emissions by 35 per cent on the combined cycle (ECE + EUDC). The HY-KERS is based on the 599 GTB Fiorano but importantly, the technology may one day be fitted to all future Ferraris, 8- and 12-cylinders alike, regardless of their engine position. Thanks to ongoing research combined with experience gained in Formula 1, the new technology developed at Maranello actually accentuates the cars’ sporty character and driving involvement. One of the principle objectives of the project is ensuring that Ferrari will be in a position to comply with future CO2 emissions standards, particularly in terms of the urban cycle. City driving is traditionally where sports cars are most penalised as their engines are designed for maximum efficiency and performance at high revs, whereas the urban cycle involves low revs and low engine loads. There are many original aspects to the new Ferrari hybrid transmission, starting with its architecture. Firstly, weight distribution has not been altered. This is thanks to positioning the batteries below the floorpan of the car, and the use of a compact electric motor coupled to the rear of the F1 dual-clutch gearbox. Not only does this layout not affect dynamic performance, it actually improves it, by lowering the centre of gravity. Cockpit room and luggage space are also unaffected. Maranello’s engineers also employed Ferrari’s track experience in the design, engineering and manufacture of this innovative electric motor which produces over 100 hp. The algorithms and control logics controlling the torque, traction and braking distribution functions are directly derived from Formula 1. The solution adopted for the HY-KERS represents just one of the possible technologies for the future, but in the meantime Ferrari continues to evolve its models and increase their overall efficiency. Thus research continues into reducing drag, improving rolling resistance of tyres and lowering weight as well as working on reducing engine friction to increase efficiency. Ferrari’s research into reducing energy consumption has not been focused merely on its cars but also extends to the various production methods employed throughout the Maranello factory where the entire manufacturing process is carried out, from the foundry to the final assembly. In the course of 2010, Ferrari will cut CO2 emissions by 30,000 tons (-40 per cent) and Particulate Matter (PM) levels by 65 per cent. This will be achieved thanks to the company’s photovoltaic system and Italy’s largest trigeneration plant (which produces electricity, hot and cold water), making Ferrari entirely self-sufficient from an energy point of view. This reduction also means that Ferrari will meet the Kyoto protocol objectives a full 10 years ahead of schedule and with double the figure imposed on Europe. The Ferrari Vice Chairman was asked by Ferrari.com what day his father would have had today, less than one month before the start of the new F1 season: "A birthday with lots of work with the passion and determination he always had and pressure on the whole team. He would have been in his office in Fiorano, following the laps on the track and discussing every single detail with the team. High pressure all day long. I remember when Scheckter won the title in 1979, while the new car wasn’t ready for the start of the Championship and we could only start after two races. We worked night and day without a break." What would he have thought about a Championship where the test sessions are concentrated in four weeks and obstructed by lots of rain? "He would have been completely against it. That’s for sure. He not only had the technical but also the physical necessity to see the single-seater out on the track. From the moment of the car’s launch, followed by its first lap on the track in Fiorano, he wanted the car constantly to be tested. He would have never accepted such a situation. Let’s not forget that the Fiorano circuit was built for that and for the so-called shakedowns before every single race. He was always there and saw his single-seaters leaving. Would he be happy with the two drivers we have for this season? "I’m sure he would be happy with them. He would have liked in both of them more than anything else their qualities as drivers and then also their passion. Maybe he could have also replied to criticism that we don’t have drivers from our own country. In the end Felipe and Fernando do not only speak perfect Italian, but they also have quite similar characters." How does Piero Ferrari experience this start of the new season? "I’m calm. We’ve made some excellent choices. Felipe has completely recovered and Fernando introduced himself very well into the team. As far as their technical value is concerned, I’m not the first discovering it: Felipe hasn’t been very lucky over the last years, but he has shown that he is a contender for the World Title, while Alonso has already won two titles. I think that the car is behaving very well, so I’m confident. It’s important that we’re talking about motorsport again and that this season’s confrontations will happen on the track and not in court, thanks to clear rules. This sport has to become again a challenge in terms of sport and technology and nothing else. Are you curious about the new rules? And about the new teams? "I haven’t though about it so far how it will be without refuelling, just with change of tyres. We’ll see how the strategies will change. I’m following the rule not to talk about the others. I just saw in the newspapers that some new teams might have problems and might not even participate in the Championship. I completely agree with Luca di Montezemolo when he says that there should be the possibility to start a third car, which can be managed by smaller teams, or maybe even do it like we did in the 1970s, considering the stable rules, private teams often used cars from the bigger teams from the previous year. I really think that it’s absolutely possible thinking about introducing a third car, which could guarantee more suspense and lower costs. A member of the Ferrari Classiche team who specialises in the repair and restoration of classic car wiring looms and electronics will be working in the hall under the eyes of the visitors. At present he is reconstructing the loom of a 1961 Ferrari 250 GT short wheelbase Berlinetta which is currently undergoing authenticity certification. This initiative helps illustrate the expertise of the Ferrari Classiche staff and the importance of the original documentation held in the archives, but also creates a unique opportunity for visitors of the Galleria in Maranello to see how such specialists work inside the factory. Also on display is a 1967 Ferrari 350 Can- A m, a 1971 512 M and a 1954 750 Monza, one of the most prestigious sports cars from Maranello. Even though the luxury sports car market suffered an average reduction of 35% in 2009, Ferrari recorded only slightly lower results than in 2008, the most financially successful year in the Prancing Horse’s entire history. A total of 6,250 cars were delivered to end clients (-5%) with a confirmed growth in emerging countries and a controlled contraction in certain of our more mature markets. The sharply contracting market made Ferrari’s market share grow across the board with an average increase worldwide of 10 percentage points, garnering it leadership of the sports car segment. These results were reached thanks to the completion of the range and in particular with the extraordinary success of the Ferrari California for which 60% of the customers are new Ferraristi. The most recent car, the 458 Italia, deliveries of which only just started, made no contribution to the 2009 figures, but it has already obtained exceptionally positive reviews and prestigious awards all around the world. Consolidated revenues at the end of 2009 stood at 1,778 million euro (-7%) with an operating profit of 245 million euro, compared to 341 million euro last year. Ferrari recorded a ROS (Return on Sales) for 2009 of 13.8%. The variation of the operating result is due to the negative effects of volumes and product mix (both of which were extremely positive in 2008) as well as unfavourable exchange rates. The weakness of the US dollar has a major impact since over 30% of sales are made in this currency. The combination of these effects has been partially compensated by increasing efficiencies thank to the rationalization of industrial processes. Commenting on the economic figures Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo said: “Achieving these results in such a challenging economic climate is the best possible endorsement of the quality and the commitment of all the people of Ferrari and of our strategy focusing on innovation and exclusivity. Those guidelines will also allow us to tackle 2010: it will be a very difficult year and the first small signs of recovery will not come until next autumn.” To sustain the strategy of technical innovation and constant renewal of the product portfolio consistent investments in R&D have been made reaching 18.5% of total revenues. This significant financial effort has been wholly selffinanced by Ferrari, which has however closed the year generating a positive cash flow. The environment represents the other strategic area in which Ferrari in strongly investing. The new trigeneration system (the simultaneous production of power, heat and cooling from a single source) together with the photovoltaic plant enabled Ferrari to decrease CO2 emissions by 15% the, with the goal of reaching a decrease of 25-30% by the end of 2010. Through this ecological system, Ferrari is already almost completely autonomous for its energy requirements. Analysis of results by geographic area confirms North America as Ferrari’s largest market with 1,467 cars delivered, around 200 less than the previous year. In Europe as a whole, 2,752 cars were delivered, with an overall drop of 6%. Italy and Germany are still our most important European markets, with 655 and 644 delivered cars respectively. Positive results for Ferrari’s new markets as well. The Middle East, in particular, continues to stand out with an increase of 29% thanks to 471 cars delivered. In the Asia Pacific region a total of 1,117 cars (+3%) were delivered with China confirming its potential with 206 cars, while Japan stood firm in the top five markets worldwide with 8% of total deliveries. Ferrari’s investments in brand activities (licensing, retail and internet) continued. The retail business grew by 22.5%, thanks in part to the opening of Ferrari Stores in strategic locations such as Regent Street, right in the very heart of London. The Ferrari Store development programme will pursue the plan to reach 60 stores worldwide by the end of 2011. On the licensing front, revenues increased by an average of 10.7%. A further demonstration of the strength of the Ferrari brand came from Formula One. In what proved to be one of the most disappointing seasons ever, the Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro renewed numerous sponsorship contracts and signed a very important new five-year agreement with Banco Santander. Ferrari’s internet activities in 2009 were dominated by the complete redesign and relaunch of the www.ferrari.com website which very rapidly accumulated the record figure of 200 million page views in nine months. All the new car launches and the major events were broadcast on the site, including the unveiling of the new Formula One single-seater, the F10 which was watched by over 3 million people. After the award for ‘best restoration’ at Villa d’Este last year, the car, part of the Americans Kenneth and Dayle Roath’s collection, gained the “Outstanding restoration quality and challenge” Excellence Cup at the Cavallino Classic Concorso d’Eleganza in Florida. The car, handed over to Ecurie Francorchamps in 1956, was presented at the 39th Salon d’Auto in Brussels in January of the same year, participating afterwards in numerous competitions. The complete restoration performed by Ferrari Classiche involved the mechanics and the chassis, restoring the car to perfect original conditions. The Cavallino Classic, held for the 19th time, is a tribute to the cars from Maranello. Around 80 cars were on the list in various categories, competing for the trophies assigned by an international jury chaired by Ed Gilbertson. Although the track was slightly wet and the temperatures very low Valentino managed to drive a couple of laps and, once he got out of the car, couldn’t hide his enthusiasm for this new Ferrari. The driver from Tavullia congratulated the technicians present at the track for the car he entirely enjoyed, especially the driver set up, the steering precision, the engine and the dual clutch F1 gearbox. This “laboratory” model is the result of extensive research in both the road car and Formula 1 fields. It brims with new solutions in terms of aerodynamics, electronic controls and chassis dynamics, with many being proposed together for the first time ever on a car and, of these, several are unique to this model. Marcel Fässler and Joël Camathias, with the F430 GT2 started by Trottet Racing, won the title in the International GT Open. The drivers from the Swiss team held the leadership in the championship over the whole season. Therefore winning the first race held on Saturday was enough for them to gain the title. At the end of race 1 the Ferrari crossed the line ahead of the two Porsche 911 with Gianluca Roda-Richard Lietz and Raymond Narac-Patrick Pilet, while in the second race, held on Sunday, the first F430 crossing the line was the one driven by Marco Cioci and Piergiuseppe Perazzini (Megadrive), behind the three Porsches with Narac-Pilet, Jean Philippe Belloc-Richard Balandras and Roda-Lietz.‬‪ At the end of the races held at the Parco Algarve circuit the Spanish GT Championship was won by the Portuguese drivers Ricardo Bravo and Lourenço da Veiga. In their home race the ASM Team drivers finished only fifth in the first race, with the F430 of Peter Sundberg-Juan Manuel Lopez (Exact Racing), the Porsche 911 with Miguel Amaral-Miguel A. de Castro and the Mosler with Martin Short on the podium. In race 2 the two Portuguese drivers conquered a spectacular victory ahead of the Porsche with Amaral-De Castro and the other Ferrari driven by Sundberg- Lopez.‬‪ Amongst the other important results gained by the F430 over the last weekend there was this season's second victory for Team Daishin orange car in the Japanese Super GT Championship. The auction was the climax of the Gala dinner organized by Ferrari at the Red Gate Gallery in Beijing. Lu Hao, the first Chinese artist to work with Ferrari, created this special model decorated with Song Dynasty Ge Kiln pottery patterns. The proceeds from this auction will fund outstanding students and young teachers of Tsinghua University’s Department of Automotive Engineering to study at Italy’s Politecnico di Milano University and internship at Ferrari’s headquarters. Lu Hao Biography Lu Hao (Beijing 1969) has followed his distinctive artistic vision to become one of China’s most famous and most influential contemporary artists. He graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1992. As one of the earliest and most successful Chinese avant-garde artists, he has continually cultivated a unique artistic philosophy. His works have been collected in many museums around the world, such as the Museum of the University of Cambridge, the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art, and the Singapore Art Museum. Lu Hao has participated in numerous exhibitions since 1999, including Archeology of the Future – The Second Chinese Art Triennial Exhibition in 2005, Documenta 12 in Kassell in 2007, and the 2008 Shanghai Biennial. This exclusive car follows the announcement in September of a small series of specially-designed 599 GTB Fiorano China Limited Edition models which won wide acclaim. The one-off incorporates a number of the features of the China Limited Edition cars, a very limited series of less than a dozen cars finished in two-tone Rosso Fuoco with silver roof and characterized by unique Chinese design elements. This one-off model represents an even more exclusive version, thanks to a very special exterior finish which draws inspiration from Ge Kiln porcelain of the Song Dynasty. Lu Hao has blended traditional design elements with Ferrari’s innovative styling to create a truly unique vehicle using a ‘cracked’ glaze pattern which is elegantly coloured, with clearly defined cracks etched at different depths. Only a few hundred pieces of Ge Kiln porcelain exist today, all of which are priceless treasures. The “cracked” glaze pattern has the lustre of jade and is often used to symbolize the qualities of a true gentleman. Porcelain is one of China’s most distinctive ancient arts which was brought to the West via the Silk Road thousands of years ago. Using Ge Kin porcelain as the inspiration for the one-off version is a perfect complement to Ferrari’s China Limited Edition Model.
