European GP - First free practice session
Valencia, 21th August 2009 - The Valencia circuit, in the race calendar for the second time, is a very particular track through the streets of the Spanish city. This morning at 10 am the teams went onto the track, with Badoer debutin in a Ferrari and Grosjean in a Renault. The Ferraris of Raikkonen and Badoer drove the 10th (1:43.384) and 20th fastest lap time (1:45.840) respectively, with 23 and 25 laps. The best lap time was driven by Barrichello with Brawn GP (1:42.460), followed by the two McLarens with Kovalainen and Hamilton. Air and track temperatures are a very important factor here in Spain: this morning the air was around 27° and the track 34°; in the afternoon the temperatures should rise by 5 degrees, which should be similar conditions to the race. Luca Badoer takes confidence with Valencia track with an exceptional consultant by his side: Michael Schumacher, who was for a long time at the box talking to him after the first laps looking at the collected data, while Schumacher watched the rest of the session from the pit wall.
