On the occasion of the 2008 Ferrari Festival Japan, on this track the world record of the most Ferrari cars simultaneously on a race track has been set, equalling the record from 2007 on the Silverstone track with 385 participating cars. In front of the judges from the Guinness Book of Records, 500 Ferrari Owners from all over Japan took part in the event to be officially registered and originating the “Guinness Challenge”. During this exciting weekend five F1 Clienti single-seaters and the cars from the prestigious FXX Programme went out on the track for several timed laps. This year both programmes will be back at the track on the occasion of the Ferrari Festival’s 2009 edition on the weekend of 10th May.
CIRCUIT
Planned by Don Nichols and Sir Stirling Moss the track sported a long main straight ending in a very fast raised corner. The circuit was inaugurated in December 1965. After a fatal accident in 1975 the fast first corner was removed. On 24th October the first Japanese GP was held on the track, the first ever Formula 1 GP in Asia. After its second edition in the following year Formula 1 left the track until 1987. Then the races were held at the Suzuka track. On 10th April 2005 the renovations of the Fuji circuit were completed after 3 years under the supervision of Hermann Tilke. Thanks to the consistent improvements of its structures since 2007 Fuji had the possibility to host the Formula 1 again.
