Race track near Watkins Glen, in the state of New York, at lake Seneca, where for 20 years in a row, from 1961 to 1980, the US Grand Prix had been hosted. For over 50 years the track has been place of numerous car races. The track’s actual configuration is the third version of a road track, which initially lead through the city - including some railway crossings – with a length of 10.621 km where the first race was held in the year 1948, won by Frank Griswold with Alfa Romeo 8C2900 coupé. The track was considered to be too dangerous and modified in the year 1952 into a new permanent track with a length of 7.402 km, running around a hill. The last modifications were carried out in 1956m, which lead to today’s layout.
