Ferrari 458 Italia receives Auto Express “Performance Car of the Year 2011” award

Maranello, 3 August 2011. Not only is the Ferrari 458 Italia considered the benchmark by which all other sports cars are measured, but it is now the model which has received the highest number of the industry’s leading international accolades ever. The latest of these was handed over last night at the 2011 New Car Awards ceremony held by the UK’s biggest selling weekly car magazine, Auto Express, where the Ferrari 458 Italia took the title of “Performance Car of the Year 2011” ahead of 20 other performance cars, emerging as the clear winner in terms of performance and handling, both on road and on track.

The 458 Italia’s critical and public acclaim knows no bounds, as can be confirmed by the over 30 international awards it has already accumulated. Among these is the recent recognition received from China, now Ferrari’s second-largest market, where the 458 Italia was presented with the 2011 China Automobile Industry Outstanding Achievement Award.

This accolade joins other top awards such as BBC Top Gear’s “Car of the Year” and “Supercar of the Year”. The car also met with the enthusiasm of the German automotive public which voted it Best Sports Car 2011 in the prestigious specialist magazine Auto Motor und Sport, while in the USA the 458 Italia won the title of World Performance Car of the Year 2011 as well as Robb Report’s Car of the Year 2011.
